im gonna have to sit on how i feel about it more but its kinda insane how squarely in the middle this movie feels between bonds beyond time (abysmal dogshit) and dark side of dimensions (peak fiction)

frankly im the only person on earth to be brave enough to say this but this is the TATMR of yugioh

-only of the movies to come out during the golden age
-when its trying to be the show on a cinematic scale it REALLY hits
-when its trying to be more it misses the point of why the show was appealing

probably cant follow along the actual duels, but it just kinda feels out of place?

but holy FUCK that last half hour is pure fucking noise that just keeps getting less and less interesting, anubis is fucking stupid, overdesigned, and lame, and the pyramid of light feels completely wasted, and in general it just feels too over the top trying desperatley to appeal to parents who-

level good (though not QUITE at that level) all of the stuff with pegasus is a banger, i like that they tease his eyesocket is FUCKED without showing it, not to mention i think it all does a really good job of feeling like "yugioh on the big screen", not to mention the kaiba vs pegasus duel is peak.
