Watching opencode and Qwen3.5 122B migrate a python library to Rust for roundabout 12 hours now.
Let’s see if this ever gets it done…
Like I don’t need this for work, just for hobby. If this was for work this wouldn’t be okay 😅
It's normal that once you get a 19" homelab rack you outgrow the rack within like...umm...5 days? right?
Of course @jeffgeerling.com has, haha. What a great bunch of resources he’s putting together 👍
Except for the idle power draw that looks like a great machine. Planning to use it as a workstation or just experiment and see what sticks?
Oh nice! Sounds like it’s competing with Radxa Orion roughly? Didn’t know of this machine.
Raspberry Pi compute module is completely underrated/misunderstood.
It’s an upgrade over regular RPI in that you can get it with proper storage for OS and ECC memory and you can get the IO that is most fitting for your use case.
In my case the IO board has 2.5gbit Ethernet and mounts an NVMe.

Knowing how computing works from first principles is such a super power.
Just debugging some system to system communication is so many layers of tech and if you see how it breaks you are likely to be able to point at that one thing where it’s broken almost immediately. 🥹
Mega! 😻
Basically only listened to two albums this week:
open.qobuz.com/album/naszhk...
and
open.qobuz.com/album/yrpbt0...
Each great in its own way 🎧
These guys are aliens in the truest sense. Alienated from their own being.
All I wanted to do was write a blog post about some multi account networking and now here I am fighting AWS billing alerts...
If you are hit by AWS Config costs after creating a AWS Control Tower setup, this is a well working fix:

Männer, calm down. Es gibt ja nicht mal einen Fahrradweg für mich als Radfahrerin?
Apparently I’ve had my gmail for 21 years. Bye 👋
Good day to cancel 1Password/Google Apps For Business and move to Proton. That was surprisingly easy and the apps look really good. Went with the 9,99 plan that gives me 500GB/Storage throughout all apps.
Happy 🇪🇺

So you are saying my gut instinct found a valid design flaw-(ish) thing? 😅 Thanks for following up on that!
Like how sure am I starting out here that this is fine when I need to suppress my linter and then use an unstable API? 😵💫
Turns out its fine.
Agreed. I don't think I have all that many of those types flying around my codebase. :D
Okay, I know my esp32 has persistent memory and then its.
#![allow(static_mut_refs)]
#[ram(unstable(rtc_fast, persistent))]
static mut SOME_PERSISTENT_DATA: [u8; 2] = [0; 2];
Haha, just keep posting things like this for all us starters out here who think they do things wrong when they start out with embedded rust. Helps to know we are not going mad and those are just the correct types in that space 😅
The ecosystem and upgrade path of Kubernetes has also gotten conceivable more stable. (apart from the ingress shenanigans).
I still wouldn’t start out on it for relatively common architectures.
I am excited about trains, electric cars, renewables, vaccines, democratising microcontrollers, y u asking?
Yeah totally. Just the amount of metadata being pushed through these two services alone is 🤯
It’s all fun and games to shout about sovereign European tech until you realise there is no European alternative to apples and googles push notification services and communication on mobile is pretty much impossible without them.

I still like it, I just don't like overinflated pricing of some products and where that money is flowing.
So now I was looking for a fair alternative from Europe to move away from Apple Music again but obviously not going back to Spotify now.
Looked at Deezer and Qobuz and really like Qobuz :)
Yes, I guess the phrasing makes more sense if you had background that my journey was that I had already moved from Spotify to Apple Music because Spotify had "bad" audio quality and weren't paying artists as well as 🍏. (Now they also have advertisements for ICE, but that wasn't an issue back then).
