Iran war: Trump says US to 'blockade' Strait of Hormuz after talks failed over Iran's 'nuclear ambitions' - follow live The US president's comments come after delegations from Washington and Tehran failed to reach a deal following lengthy talks in Islamabad.

You may think this is very very stupid but the plan is that hopefully Iran gets confused and responds by threatening to blow up their own nuclear enrichment facility.
Something similar worked for Bugs Bunny.

How many years did Donald Trump spend bitching about the $1.7bn Obama released to Iran in the nuclear deal?

This Reddit post is formatted like a joke but it’s actually a very dry recitation - at times, direct quotes - of America’s public war strategy over the last month. This can’t go on. This is deranged. Impeach and imprison.

Meanwhile, slightly bizarrely, if you have an electric car and charge it on Octopus Agile tomorrow lunchtime, you'll be paid several quid to do so because there's going to be TOO MUCH WIND POWER FOR THE GRID TO HANDLE. Time to open the oven door, turn the heat to max, and reduce your energy bill!

Starmer's cost-of-living adviser calls for fuel duty cut extension Lord Walker suggests the government should keep the 5p cut in place due to increased costs caused by war in the Middle East.

In a crisis caused by availability of fossil fuels, don’t focus on the consumer price of fossil fuels. It would be better to increase the price of fuel and use it to pay for alternative transport options plus cash handouts. That way, people can cut their cost of living while cutting demand for fuel.

Fuel duty is *already* 34p per litre lower, in real terms, than in 2010

Its been frozen or cut for 15 years

Its cost the Treasury over £200bn in tax - and hugely incentivised people to keep using ICE cars and driving. It's favoured the richest

If anything we should be restoring it to 2010 levels

The first country to BAN the sale of new gas cars is doing just fine, actually Two years ago, Ethiopia became the first country to ban gas cars from its roads. Two years later, they seem to be doing great!

Ethiopia has gone all in on EVs 👏

Paint is not protection.

Research here in the UK has found that paint can be worse than nothing at all:

Whilst protected lanes reduce the risk of injury by 40-65%, advisory (paint-only) cycle lanes are associated with a 30% *increase* in injury risk.

Ultimately electricity and gas prices will be decoupled, not by fiddling around with market rules, but by the continued expansion of renewable, nuclear and storage capacity to the point where gas becomes an increasingly negligible part of the supply mix. The sooner this happens the better. (12/12)

How exactly do plug-in solar installations work? Newsletter 'Energiewende direkt' of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate

In Germany you can buy an 800w system in the supermarket, take it home and plug and that’s it. Any energy it generates immediately goes towards running the electric stuff in your house, with any excess going back to the grid: energiewende.bundeswirtschaftsministerium.de/EWD/Redaktio...

If this war shows *anything* it’s how badly needed the transition to renewables is

That that conversation has been largely absent from UK media while nonsense like this is published shows just how much the media ownership tail is now waging the dog

Government to go “further and faster” in becoming energy secure The Energy Secretary outlines measures to protect consumers and make Britain energy secure.

This is cool. The Government is set to allow plug-in solar, low cost solar panels that families can buy at supermarkets and put on their balconies or outdoor space.

"In Germany over a million have been sold, helping households with energy costs and reducing dependence on fossil fuels."

Such a dismal tale about the UK govt: so obsessed w competing with far-right to keep out foreigners that it won’t let in the brightest & best from war-torn countries even when they’re hand-picked by the FCDO, lest they ask to stay. Soft power sacrificed, but how many Reform voters will it convert?

Absolutely nobody is suggesting an interurban dual carriageway is made 20mph, but if a local street has a function and geometry incompatible with 20mph, then something is seriously wrong and needs investment to change.

U.S. May Have Committed War Crime In Sinking Of Iranian Ship The Geneva Conventions say nations have a duty to “take all possible measures” to help rescue victims of shipwrecks. A U.S. submarine left that to Sri Lanka.

“The 312-foot Dena and its 130-member crew, many of them musicians in the Iranian navy band, had just finished participating in an Indian government naval exercise and cultural exchange that the U.S. Navy had also participated in and were on the way home on Wednesday.”
