Only cataract surgery is more common in the NHS than caesareans. But maternity underinvested and viewed by hospitals as a cost burden compared to orthopaedics
Elective THR: £13,500 income, £11,800 cost, +£ 1,700 gain vs elective CD: £2,700 income , £3,900 cost, -£1,200 loss. Healthy 👶 = future

Being an OCD-type anaesthetist my approach is a single-ply tissue corner on the skin so that just folds on touch and repeated single touches (no spatial/temporal summation) with no visual or audible cues along the anterior or mid-axillary line until an affirmative ‘yes’ from the patient. Too fussy?

Hand positions and the ‘son‐of‐Doughty’ technique Click on the article title to read more.

Bouncing makes no sense if using saline. Bouncing is done intermittently with incremental needle advancements. The next 2-3mm advance may = DP. Continuous advancement needs only Huber rim to exit ligament for LORsaline (test it out on a simulator) It’s the Doughty technique. doi.org/10.1111/j.13...

No idea. I presume giving quality information about labour analgesia would be a key aspect so women can make informed choices when needed. Isn’t that the essence of informed consent?
