Sad to hear this. Tony was from Co Durham, and was once a guest on my old BBC Tees radio show - I'd played the theme from 'Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads' so many times that it seemed rude not to ask! He was a total gent with so many great stories. Lovely bloke.

It’s like the “gay best friend” character in Heroes who is never shown to be gay, or I think even called gay when he’s bullied, even though he’s obviously playing the archetype. It’s amazing how afraid major studios were of mainstream representation back then, & what we take for granted now

Went to see roller derby today (brill), so obviously watched Whip It tonight, and it’s so funny how weirdly heterosexual it is, lots of male gaze and a romance tacked on to what’s otherwise and extremely gay film about cool women. The past truly is a foreign country

A rock is a good thing, too, you know. If the Isles of Earthsea were all made of diamond, we'd lead a hard life here. Enjoy the illusions, lad, and let the rocks be rocks.

With the HP trailer dropping tomorrow, here's the whole deal:

If you watch the show, hell even just the trailer, I will think less of you. I will dislike you. I will think you don't care about trans people.

That's it. It's been years. There's no wiggle room. No qualifiers. You care or you don't.

Bbc article comparing different response from Zack Polanski to Nigel Farage to the attack on the ambulances.

And this is an exact reminder of why we must stand against both Antisemitism and Islamophobia.

The cynical forces who seek to divide our communities must never win.

We will stand together.

'Emperor Tomato Ketchup would be one of the few 1990s rock albums that could look its contemporaries in hip hop or electronica in the eye.'

Many Happy Returns to #Stereolab's Emperor Tomato Ketchup, which turns 30 today!

Parseword - A tricky wordplay game Transform phrases through wordplay to solve cryptic crossword puzzles.

Just had my first go at Parseword, the new game by the guy who did Wordle, and despite always really not getting on with cryptic crosswords (which it borrows from) I found it immensely satisfying! www.parseword.com/daily

So few apps now actually include a genuine changelog when you go to update them - just a generic thing about fixing bugs etc. Big shout out to the few apps that actually do tell you what the update includes - weirdly Chrome is really consistent with this?

It’s making me weirdly emotional, to be able to go back and look at shops that are no longer there, buildings that have been modified or demolished. My grandma is even walking my dog ffs, and they both died over a decade ago.

It’s interesting how far back you can go on Google Maps now, back to 2008 or 2009 in a lot of places near me - amazing to be able to get an (almost) complete street view of my local area when I was a teenager

Class Title Sequence | Class
Class Title Sequence | Class YouTube video by Class

It’s stunning how absolutely dreadful the opening titles & theme for the Doctor Who spinoff Class are. Like some sort of Bastille-lite 2017 slop. It’s wild. The show itself is decently fun but it’s amazing the opening made it to screen youtu.be/8cD2HMYO8Cw?...

Absolutely nuts. Still no idea if I'll actually watch the contest this year - I haven't for the past few years - but it's still cool seeing someone I've followed for years on YouTube getting such a massive platform

The best episodes of Gilmore Girls are the ones where Caesar appears. No I will not be expanding on this.

Today I learned that Le Tigre produced a song for Christina Aguilera in 2010 which features a guest appearance by Peaches. It's called My Girls, and just sort of sounds like her doing a slightly soulless cover of an unreleased Le Tigre track, which I guess is kinda exactly what it is

I'm afraid I started thinking about how much I want an omnichord again and now I'm trying to figure out how I can get the £700 together to buy one 👀

Not to distract from the significance of the news, but I love how prominent this person’s hair clip of Kuchipatchi (a Tamagotchi character) is in this photo of such an historic event, down at the bottom left.
What other historic moments has he borne witness to?

Morgan McSweeney and his downfall reveal what the Starmer project always was.

A project defined by kneeling before wealth, seeking power for its own sake, ridding Labour of any principle or morality.

It is an irredeemably corrupt project which was always doomed.

Epstein Backed ‘Billionaires’ Dinner’ Network of Prominent Anti-Trans Figures Lawrence Krauss, Richard Dawkins, Steven Pinker and other anti-trans influencers personally benefited from a right-wing academic social group backed by infamous human trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, somet...

You’re not crazy. The anti-trans movement is not organic; it was funded by pedophilic billionaires like Jeffrey Epstein who backed a network of conservatives to accuse the same people they were sexually abusing of being the real danger. @madycast.com exposes the truth in our in-depth report.
