It's good to see you. I have been spending too much time at The Bad Place (X). Hope you are doing well.

I've been in hospital for a while. Canada is a bilingual country. I find myself instinctively recoiling from the pepper packets when the French side is up. the French word for pepper is "poivre," which looks an awful lot like "Poilievre."
Kind of you to say so, my friend. I'm going to be around here more, but mainly lurking. Writing is still a bit of a hassle, but I expect things to improve. I'm getting better, so I hope it won't be long before I'm posting more. Hope all's well with you!

I'm slowly getting better. Learning to walk again, learning how use my left arm and left hand again. Typing on a phone is still an ordeal; thank God for autocorrect. I can foresee a day when I'm functional again.
Thanks for asking. Hope all is well with you.
Not pointing fingers at anyone. The parallels between today and what happened in Nazi Germany are eerie. People have forgotten to read history and learn from it.
I'm recovering from a stroke so I have to be terse. Left side (dominant) paralyzed and right wrist broken. Typing is hard work.
Charlie Kirk = Horst Wessel
Read some history.
Had a stroke. Typing is hard. Best wishes to you.
A couple of decades ago I worked with a woman who was a stenographer. She worked as a court reporter until the government found a way to replace her with a computer.
You don't see a lot of working stenographers anymore, unless they're working for the media, especially Conservative media.
A Christian commentator wrote that people seem to consider God to be their own personal "make a wish foundation" when they prayed.
Americans who voted for Trump and who get upset with something he does or has done seem to be of the same mindset when they say, "I didn't vote for that."
Picture of someone dressed in riot gear; the face is not visible due to a gas mask. The caption above the picture says, "America is the freest country in the world." The caption below the picture says, "Now get into the fucking van."
Please, why won't the rest of the world come visit America and spend its money on our tourist attractions.
Yes, this one.
I watched a clip of Kevin Hassett, a Trump official, trying to justify a 50% tariff on Brazil.
Throughout the interview, Hassett kept saying it was all part of Trump's efforts to bring in a "golden age" for America.
He smiled the whole time. I remember now why I distrust people who smile too much.
How to look like Laura Loomer without getting plastic surgery.
I saw this story on X. The irony is delicious, as was this guy's face when a leopard ate it.
A picture of Moses with the tablets containing the 10 Commandments, standing in front of a cloud-covered mountain. The caption: "So technically Moses is the first man to download files from the cloud using a tablet."
Some tech humour from X:
American politicians have written to the government of Canada, asking if we can do something about wildfire smoke drifting South.
Won't be long before Canada can complain to the US about the smoke coming from mass cremation of detainees.
Pierre Poilievre trying yet again to make a warm, human smile, and failing.
When the best smile you can manage is one that says, "I really have pee but I'm stuck here with you."
I thought I had missed something!
Is there one? I didn't know.
Just posted an apology. It would be nice to have an edit function.
I regret to say that, in my last post, I used "it's" when I should have used "its." Fortunately, I haven't yet used "less" when I should have used "fewer."
The war against illiteracy requires eternal vigilance.
The Americans are asking Canada to please stop letting it's wildfire smoke from drifting South.
I can understand your viewpoint. I wish you well. Things are going to get very ugly very rapidly down there. Stay safe.
It has been a long time coming. The rot started to get bad with the election of Reagan. It was there earlier with Lee Atwater and the southern strategy.
It would be interesting to see how many nonvoters care now.
The term "moral injury" refers to being forced to witness or participate in actions that are morally offensive to you.
Any Americans experiencing this or are you good with what's happening? I suspect that a majority, 69%, are just fine with what's going on. I'm not so sure about the rest.

The tragedy in Texas is your government in action, America. I'm waiting to see how Joe Biden was responsible. Perhaps Jake Tapper can get another book out of it.
An independent journalist who covers Canadian politics named Dale Smith coined the term "murder clowns" to describe provincial premiers whose inadequate handling of Covid led to deaths.
I can't think of a better term to describe the Trump administration and all its enablers: murder clowns.
I'm angry too. What's happening down South is the destruction of government functions that, surprise, actually *do* something to help ordinary people. Billionaires don't need to care; if they need something, they can buy it or hire someone.
A few unpleasant truths about Evangelical Christianity.
Trigger warning for Americans: This woman appears to be a brown person and speaks with a Spanish accent. /s
