Foreign Language Learners Show a Kinematic Accent in Their Co-Speech Hand Movements Abstract. Humans typically move and vocalize in a time-synchronized fashion, aligning prominence-lending hand movements to acoustically emphasized syllables. This requires complex coordination. When s...

I’m usually with the dictionary, but also, eventually it turns into whatever we want it to be. Language is blessedly ungovernable ❤️

I find it endlessly frustrating that one of the biggest empirical findings from sociolinguistics is consistently ignored. Change doesn't come from children making mistakes. Change comes from adolescents incrementing existing probabilistic patterns.

I haven't read this paper but hopefully it's good.

A view of the River Lune in Lancaster on a very still day in winter. The blue sky is reflected in the river water. There is an architecturally unusual footbridge over the river called the Millennium Bridge. It has two vertical posts with suspension wires attached. Some houses and buildings are visible in the background.
