GREAT DAY FOR GEOFF JOHNS TO HAVE A NEW STORY IN SPIDER-MAN SUPERMAN NUMBER 1

1 hour ago 0 0 0 0

I was on the fence about whether to read Johns run since his favour has diminished in recent years but I enjoyed his GL and had already paid for them.

But this is on par with the messy tail end of Waid’s run at best and issue 200 (and the first few after it) are amongst the worst Flash I’ve read

Haven’t posted as much as there’s honestly not much positive today but I’m up to volume 12 (or 3 of Johns) of Wally West which had so many issues the false advertising on the front was the least of it (it’s not actually reverse flash)

In saying that I did put an absolute ton of time into Salmon run and enjoy it, just don’t know if I want a full version of that over the inventiveness of the normal single player

While in theory I’d love the idea of Splatoons single player being more fleshed out I worry the unified over world and focus on combat means we miss out on the Mario like inventiveness on display in every level in previous games

I mean at least I know it’ll handle amazingly

When she mentioned cherry bolossoms my first thought went to that awful CGI climax of Captain America 4

Turns out they look lovely when they’re real and in full bloom

The glass of wine helped but I wasn’t as fussed as her, as much fun as the fight scenes were

Having seen the trailer which teased the main thing I agree with this statement

Having said that I’d have never have guessed how that went, though I was nowhere near as stressed as you I was laughing most of the time

Started Flash by Mark Waid volume 8 last night and if I was the editor on flash and mark Waid came to me after a year off to say “how about Barry Allen had a secret twin who was raised by con artist and he’s the ancestor to reverse flash” I’d have tell him to take another year off

I may have enjoyed it more just for taking my nephew to it with me so I got to enjoy it through him as much as I did myself

The first one always felt like a generic kids film in a Mario skin with references in the background everywhere, this for better or worse was a completely love letter to Mario from start to finish

And more than anything else I appreciate using actual Mario music instead of pop music THANK YOU

I don’t know if it’s a better movie than the first (or a good movie in any form) but Super Mario Galaxy is definitely a better Mario film than the first one

Back up wise, jimmy/carnage the clear winner (I was cackling) with punisher/power girl the runner up, the rest all feel too indulgent/referential for their own good with the possible exception of Rucka/Scotts which is just missing the sauce

Main story of Superman/Spider-man done and arts great, writing is fun but for the love of god can we retire Master Planner homages?

It’s a very fun experience and looks damn good with the practical sets/Rocky but the science, even if it wasn’t real science, in the original made up so much of the essence of the original that I was disappointed how much it was glossed over this time

The final ending seems a tad rushed too

I was lukewarm on Project Hail Mary when I read it last year, mostly due to some of Wiers writing ticks taking me out of the book so I was lukewarm on the film until the reviews came in

Having just seen it, an improvemtncin some ways, less in others

That daredevil season 2 opener has completely dampened my enthusiasm for the season, a mess of the writers trying to set up the board they way they want it that forgets to actually be entertaining in its own right

It’s difficult to believe For All Mankind went from a show as good as it was in season 2 to a show I struggle to take seriously anytime Joel Kinnamon tries to act like a 90 year old man

Hard to rate this, it’s certainly cosy and charming but it’s completely different than the kind of game I usually play and has relaxing as it was it felt like a to do list at times

Will do some post game and evaluate
