Has anyone used Scratch Coding Cards, do you have other tips for how to get him interested in #gamedev or #coding in general?

Yeah likewise. If it's not a dramatic overreach of the initial system, I'd go for the system you want to make that will save you redoing the easier version in the future.
Depends how over-engineered you want the game to be at the start. If you're expecting a quick uptake transport from the start. Or design the first version to be converted to transport efficiently so you're not redoing too much work if it's needed.
Agree on your take but also love late stage QA when you start to get external feedback on your MVP.

Yes! Will give it a try when the CCU lifts but with team-based games, until you get an audience, you have to have some low-level sponsored ads to ensure there are always players for people to team up with.
