We're also not going to pretend that the hyper-masculinization of Jayce isn't rooted in racist stereotypes, because if there's any character that's seems flexible when it comes to gender expression, I'd argue it's him. Hell, I feel like the way his story arc plays out argues that.

I think what frustrates me about the emasculation of Viktor Arcane (in certain pockets of the fandom, lmao) is it seems kinda fundamentally out-of-character. While I don't think he's drinking machismo, I feel like he'd have especially strong opinions about masculinity and manhood.

Lack of wife treatment for Jayce on behalf of the jayvik fandom despite it being good for his health and Viktor being a wifeguy

jayce being absolutely enamored with every monstrous incarnation of Viktor is so important to me

It’s also why I’m routinely incredibly frustrated with how they’re often viewed & portrayed in fandom: Viktor is constantly feminized and Jayce is constantly hyper-masculinized, & this happens in ways that deny, misinterpret, & misconstrue basic aspects of their characters & stories.

& Viktor’s relationship with gender is key to understanding him as a disabled man as, in the eyes of a capitalistic society, being disabled necessarily makes you less of a man. Being able-bodied is a requirement of this construction of manhood that he’ll never meet, regardless of his own identity.

— & is allowed to be as feminine or unmanly as he feels he’s always been. Or maybe Jayce is simply a trans woman who comes into her own once her story has played out. Who knows!

This is why I personally read Jayce as AMAB & having a complicated & difficult relationship with manhood that I think he might eventually abandon in favor of a way of being outside the binary, where he’s free from the rigidity of masculine roles—

I believe that within jayvik (and even vikjayce to an extent), there is a simple way to understand their relationships with gender: Jayce is awarded masculinity he doesn’t want, while Viktor is denied masculinity he does want.
