Wonder if the former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper will ever run to be the Czech PM
the Romans and the Greeks
Is the Heidenau-ÚnL západ the future high speed line?
oh and some decent weizenbier
I wouldn't know whether to pick my favourite Czech meal (pork tenderloin in peppercorn sauce with potato pancakes) or my favourite Hungarian one (chicken paprikas with spätzle). They don't mix, unfortunately :D but either way raspberries and cream for desert and a bag of monster munch
In the 2018–19 season my Czech club Viktoria Žižkov went into the last game of the season in 15th place (of 16; bottom 2 teams relegated) and needed a win away to stay up. They went to that game with an away record of 0W 1D 14L and they pulled it off and escaped relegation. Never give up hope :D
Find out who I'm subtweeting with this on Thursday's Masquerave podcast, airing at 8pm CEST on Radio Punctum!
Noticing a trend of techno artist names which are definitely not Norwegian or Danish containing the character "ø". Like the metal umlaut except it's the techno slash? Anyway, 23.
Ah thanks, I saw that but didn't bother reading past the first sentence :D
what is this in reference to? 😂
I remember seeing Hallowe'en spelled with an apostrophe as a kid in the 90s. But never 'bus or 'phone (I have seen 'cello, though)

I always wonder about how these come about - my guess has always been that people think up stuff like "Chatham average" or "fornicate under consent of the king" as a joke and then gullible idiots take it seriously
after my B1 speaking exam I was kicking myself for a month for this brain fart that caused me to say "přát prádlo" instead of prát and nobody cared
if you're overly focused on one thing, you probably did alright) during the speaking part the important thing is to talk enough and not just sit there and give one word answers ("ano/ne/asi jooo") to everything
Yeah was talking about this with my wife today (Spanish speaker - they have similar terms in Spanish) and it made me wonder why when a spacecraft does it it's a "splashdown" but if a plane does it it's "landing on water"
I always liked the variable concept of "nearly home" on rail trips. If I've been to Nuremberg, Plzeň is nearly home. If I've been to London, Nuremberg is nearly home. I guess if you go to the moon hurtling through the atmosphere in a fireball is nearly home
Humanity did that. Science did that. Publicly-funded research did that. Excellent universities did that. Diversity did that. International cooperation did that.
Artemis II is a perfect example of what we can do at our best.
Welcome home, Integrity crew!
Sounds pretty naive to me. We've already been here before in 2018 and they still reelected Fico.
The only thing that didnt make sense to me is why does the linguist who believes in the so called "Sapir Whorf hypothesis" have a picture of Noam Chomsky on her desk
I quite like it, its sci-fi, and the sci-fi propositions in that film are numerous: 1) that Sapir and Whorf proposed a hypothesis together arguing for linguistic determinism 2) that the hypothesis is correct 3) heptapods blablabla
this weekend I am hoping that
- the artemis 2 astronauts return home
- VIktor I. király finally gets defenestrated
- I manage to record the next Masquerave podcast (airing Thursday)
As for Regiojet, the trains are nice but from my experience stuff does go wrong on international routes (not surprised the Poland one didn't work out) and for all the staff they employ they're abysmal at keeping passengers informed when things do go wrong
This paints a great picture of the issues with rail privatization in 🇨🇿 - I just hope Leo Express aren't using "švýcarská kvalita" as their slogan any more
Ah, it explains it in the article. I really need to actually read more. Pitfall of being a MOS goblin.
I am now curious why the enwikipedia article on Naomi Klein has a "not to be confused with Naomi Wolf" hatnote but not e.g. "not to be confused with Naomi Campbell"
And as for Naomi Wolf, I honestly think @ox.ac.uk should revoke her PhD
Finding reading facebook comments under pictures from Artemis 2 moon shots highly amusing. Can we combine all the conspiracy theories into one to save time - the moon is simultaneously fake AND there are also roads going between the craters because of an ancient alien civilisation
yeah thats what I understood :) Taxi driver was talking to his kids on the phone and I couldnt identify that it was Pashto
