Avalanche’s Scott Wedgewood, Mackenzie Blackwood set to win NHL’s William Jennings Trophy Scott Wedgewood joked that all he had to do to win the first major award of his NHL career was not give up 20 goals Thursday night.

On the day the #Avs traded for Scott Wedgewood, they were 32nd in the NHL in save%. Ten days later, Mackenzie Blackwood joined him.

Those teams have far more drafted prospects in the cupboard than Colroado. The Avs have very little NHL-ready depth.

Look at Gavin Brindley. Team full of young players was willing to give him up, and he ended up getting 2/3 of a season playing the No. 1 team in the NHL.
