What if most of the people attending the university agree with the author? Of course, some share your belief in undergrad ed’s higher purpose, but many do not.

Also double the size of the House, pass a law creating multi member districts with ranked choice voting , and cut military spending by 90% over 30 years.

The plan: trifecta, nuke option the filibuster, expand the Court, then add DC and PR as states if plebiscites there agree.

Seems like it’s all play money. If they don’t get AGI and cure cancer in a year, the world’s economy may implode. Hell of a bet we are all taking.

Surprised they published the actual question given that amount of bias. Of course maybe they left out the likes to kick puppies and bully people?

This Iran War looks more and more poorly thought out by the day. Just an irresponsible risk to keep his pro-Israel backers happy with no strategic thinking about what if it didnt go well?

Right it would take a coordinated gulf war build up and ground op of half the military to realistically get regime change—& then you’re stuck there indefinitely. Iran called his bluff. As long as they don’t further escalate I think Trump is forced to surrender completely.

Yeah I think it’s probably age-related. He’s also facing competing interests of Israel and his nationalist base that thinks they voted against Mideast wars. He can’t please both and is stuck.

MTG Arena not much better. All just gambling and finding ways to addict people really. Micro transactions are gambling.

Haven’t heard that exact word used but the idea of CNN making and covering every latest story as if it was the most important thing ever has been widely discussed at least. One of the reasons CNN has been so destructive imo. No context to the never ending crisis, all news equally milked for drama.

Hadn’t really thought about the style of sports reporting and sports news before but he’s totally right. It is intentionally cocky, boisterous, proud, pompous, loud, and all said with a smirk. Obnoxious really. Will be glad if the style evolves into less of a caricature.

It’s not that I think it’s inevitable, it’s simply that the GOP are going to see how these numbers are even worse in November in areas that are “rightfully republican” and feel incapable of not panically jamming the “try to fuck up elections” button as hard and as quickly as they can

Unvarnished gutter racism akin to what you'd hear out of the mouth of eugenicist Social Darwinists in the early 20th century.

Pretty sure they would have had attorneys vet the claims about drunkenness of the Attorney General. Bet this case lasts a couple months and is tossed. Hope The Atlantic has the receipts & hits back with malicious prosecution.

It’s very likely planted to foment division. Whole accounts could be fake or even AI generated. Worse, they could be genuine people already persuaded by such manipulation. Social media makes it easy to control people through this sort of drama.

America is a country made on fantasy—Hollywood, TV, now social media. We, the West, aren’t the first society to put narrative first, see cultures dedicated to holy books, but we are ascendant atm. Guns/death are 1st narrative tropes to provide resolution to the dramas we create. They are holy to us.

Robot wars! lol
Trump and leaders like him will use autonomous weapons to make war painless politically at home. Going to be a whole new Cold War of robotic arms race.

The AI and robot revolution is going to be a very big deal. Going to change everything but not exactly overnight. Give it 20 years and the changes will be profound. Should ultimately unlock a ton of economic activity, but jobs & careers are difficult to imagine.

Todays AI takes vast resources, promotes fakery, impedes traditional education, foments distrust, addicts the susceptible, & is being forced on people.

Trump's dementia-induced event horizon is a solid couple of hours, so "never" to him may in fact have been yesterday morning to us. Of course he's the most infamous liar in history, so without more to go on it's 50-50 confusion or mendacity.

He meant never yesterday morning.

Iggy Pop Talks About His Trailer Trash Childhood, Meeting David Bowie | Letterman YouTube video by Letterman

Great Iggy Pop interview from what looks like the early 80s on Letterman. He talks about growing up in a trailer park, meeting Bowie, and his now rare and out of print autobiography "I Need More."

Martial arts movies are musicals for boys essentially.

Seems smart to me. Donors essentially bought a copy. I'm ok with it.

This sounds smart to me considering the landscape of political books, and that he gave them to his donors (essentially sold them to his donors).
