A frown pulls his lips, his ears picking up the frantic heartbeat of… a child?

No, this heartbeat didn’t flutter the way a child’s did. It was a child’s heart beating but there was a dark undercurrent to its rhythm.

“Damn…”

A scream erupts in the dark, drawing the metallic gaze of the Sound Hashira. A rumble resonates in his chest, and in a heartbeat he’s off.

His exit breaks the sound barrier, rippling air currents like thunder without sound, and he closes in on the newly bred group of demons raiding the village.

Out on patrol, the sun having already set, and the Sound Pillar wore a grim expression as he scaled the rooftops. Maroon eyes sharp as his silhouette moved beneath the moon.

“Damn demon scum. Can’t they ever take the night off?”

“Ah, speak of the devil and his royal pain-in-the-ass shall appear.”

“Mmm.” A slight frown settles on his face. “The foul stench of 𝐷𝐸𝑀𝑂𝑁 fills the air.”
