The most creative, queer and awesome book I’ve read in a while. The West Passage by @vandroidhelsing.bsky.social 🤓

The Teletubby Sun Is All Grown Up! And It Thirsts For Blood
such an Anne Shirley-ass thing to say but I hate walking on flower petals. I’m sure it hurts them
Character art of High Priest Easoren and Fount Marzanna
Trope map for queer gothic fantasy novel RENDER TO SILVER by Catherine Labadie
When the trope is a bath scene, but instead of water it's metallic wine, and oh wait the devout priest of the god of greed washes her hair before he sends her to her death...

Starting to muse on a project of just bonus chapters featuring new stories / perspectives for all of my books. This way I get to revisit them, but also practice with new material. It probably wouldn't see the light of day. OR maybe it'll be newsletter fodder if I ever start one??

Stoner fairy tale movie called Four and Twenty Blackbirds when?
Also charismatic, chatty villains or villainous love interests
So stifled and repressed they basically go insane internally until the first real opportunity comes for them to lose their marbles and decide from there who they'll become 🥰
I miss them 😭
Artwork of Kye and Jude from Name Her Holy. Kye is wrapped in a blanket, hugging Jude from behind with her hands up her shirt. Jude is holding a hot tea kettle and looking back over her shoulder asking “you cold love? kye is answering “no.”
Happy Lesbians Week to Jude and Kye 💖
I will be rattling them around in my head extra to celebrate
Romantic fantasy (sometimes queer) books by Catherine Labadie - MERE FLESH, GARNER FOR GOLD, RENDER TO SILVER, A TURN OF THE WHEEL, A SONG FOR THE ROAD, LONG GROWS THE DARK, SLOW WANES THE NIGHT
Some whimsical things in my books ~
📖 An heirloom spellbook that writes back
🫐 Fruit that gives you courage to speak truth
🔮 Spells to hex cheating boyfriends
🍷Wine changed to liquid, drinkable, delicious silver
👢Boots that cover miles with a step
Can you guess which whimsy goes with which book?
Writing about monks at the cafe playing Low by Flo Rida
love London, but guys. you gotta do something about these chimney sweeps. I went too long without smiling and a herd of them descended and wouldn’t stop singing until I gamboled with them
In order to protect our men, we’ve constructed a labyrinth and trapped Jolene inside it
Music is integral to Larkspur's story because she's a bard! I even wrote a few songs for A SONG FOR THE ROAD. They're not much, but I'm proud of them, & I couldn't write a book about warrior bard dwarves without including some.
This is from the part where the main cast begins to understand what exactly they will have to give up in GARNER FOR GOLD.
Books to read with ironic "Biblical Conviction" - Besieger by Kalina Mitova, Render to Silver by Catherine Labadie, The Castle and the Cloister by Laura Weymouth, Angels Before Man by rafael nicolas, Garner for Gold by Catherine Labadie, & Mere Flesh by Catherine Labadie
Here are books that inspire either their own "religious" fervor or outright oppose a certain churchy nonsense. As you can see, a few of these books are ones I've written. This is kind of my thing.
Enjoy!
I think. Atp. In terms of writing and publishing... I'm just going to prioritize what is fun. The way industry keeps changing and fucking us over is incredibly frustrating. Might as well just follow my own whims and whimsy. People can choose to follow that or not. No hard feelings either way.

Drafting first. Sometimes if I get really bogged down in the middle I'll pause drafting, take a 2-4 week rest, & resume with a thorough edit/notes session of the first half of the book. But other than that, its drafting only until it's done.
I sing to my cat in operatic tones so he feels like a Dark Souls boss. I hope this doesn't give him a complex.
Gonna become a fire and brimstone preacher against cars.
I saw Goody Proctor at the Devil's Sacrament and she drove a Ford F-150.
