It’s time to reset the NDIS to ensure it is there for those that need it the most | Martin Laverty Mark Butler’s proposed plan offers a significant opportunity to redefine the scheme for people with permanent and significant disabilities

"Save the NDIS for those who need it the most" is a framing that worries me.

Look, this NDIS stuff. It’s not the recipients. It’s the legalised grift of providers. It’s privatisation for profit. And even with NFP’s it’s still about making profit. It’s yet another thing Labor did without looking critically at the possibility of it going wrong. #NationaliseNDIS

Imagine a California where families and workers don't just survive, they flourish. That’s the roadmap.

Better schools, housing that’s affordable, cleaner air, and a health care system that sees you as a human being first.

Let’s make it happen.

Meta just paid the lowest effective federal tax rate in its history.

Thanks to tax breaks and loopholes, it avoided $13.7B in 2025 federal income taxes.

But now it's planning to lay off 10% of its global workforce (8,000 people) by May 20 — with more job cuts later this year.

Trickle down hoax.

Konrad Benjamin nails the root of the problem: to stop large industries from ripping us all off, politicians need to stop “going to work in the industries that they literally wrote the rules for”🔥
Rules that as Dr Denniss points out, see gas co’s “pay more in PR than PRRT”💥

New detection tech could make AUKUS submarines obsolete Chinese researchers have developed a new gravity-based detector that could be used to find submarines and render the proposed AUKUS submarine redundant.

A new Chinese gravity-based detector could make stealth submarines obsolete.
That raises serious questions about the long-term viability of AUKUS, John Queripel writes.

This. They're moving toward antivirals that kill multiple viruses with mRNA. Cancer cures. And they don't have to poison my neighbors to do any of that.

Data centres uses 32% of Ireland's total electricity supply but pay almost less than half of the residential rate. So we're effectively subsidizing tech giants during a cost of living & energy crisis. Meanwhile this Govt continues to cheerlead their expansion & continue to fail in their obligations.

The RBA’s policy deliberately creates unemployment. So why do we treat the jobless so badly? The way we deal with rising inflation is highly problematic.

the policy was set in stone when the gig economy was the cash economy, when official figures did not remotely resemble actual economic-exchange-care activity. Now everything is transactionalised.
