There is a serious failure in UK govt, politics & media to take sufficiently seriously what Musk said & meant with "fight back or die"
= Violence (interethnic civil war) is inevitable so pre-emptive violence - vs migrants, minorities & political opponents - is necessary to avoid existential erasure

What a brilliant afternoon of #VEDay80 celebrations in Leatherhead last week, meeting members of the Mole Valley Silver Band, Leatherhead Youth Theatre, Royal British Legion & The Meeting Room. 🙌
Well done to everyone involved for organising such a special day!
Whoever came up with this, respect. 🇬🇧https://youtube.com/shorts/XdBu7iqiyP8?feature=shared #RememberMonday #Eurovision2025
Local singer captivates the audience with Jerusalem in Halsey Hall, Cheshunt, in front of a draped union flag.

Nice Bank Holiday afternoon out at Halsey Hall for their Cheshunt #VEDay80 party.

8/10 people think recognising role of Commonwealth soldiers matters. But much patchier awareness that those who won the war came from every ethnicity + faith. A narrow majority (55%) know Indian soldiers part of WW2. But only a quarter know of Caribbean & African service. VE Day can raise awareness

Amazed by the resilience of all the runners I saw at #LondonMarathon yesterday, and great to see so many fundraising for Service charities including the #RoyalBritishLegion, #ScottysLittleSoldiers and @ssafaofficial.bsky.social.
Today, on Anzac Day, we say one of the simplest but most powerful of sentences we have: Lest we forget.
(Worth watching for the elves gag alone) #Eurovision2025
Lovely cover and call back to 2020's Eurovision Movie. #Eurovision2025 #Husavik youtu.be/bRTyLRsHDvU?...
Look forward to watching this - fab band that've grown on me. bbc.co.uk/programmes/m... #Eurovision2025
Last weekend was my three-year wedding anniversary. We got married during a trip to New York, a treasured memory. But I'm not sure I'd risk it today.
Anecdotally - crowd reaction to other songs went heavily for the Nordics (Sweden and Finland especially), Germany, Malta and a few of the other early favourites. While UK had more reaction than more generic entries & a few knowingly singing along, the room didn't really pop off. #Eurovision2025
On a minibreak in Dublin and went along to an @ogaeireland.bsky.social #Eurovision2025 preview party for a bit. Wholesome reaction to their local entry Emmy. #LaikaParty 🐶🚀
Biggest commitment to a 3 second joke I've ever seen
Encouraging to see this.

Increasingly hooked on @remembermonday.bsky.social'remembermonday.bsky.social's back catalogue. Their cover of Brown Eyed Girl is notably soulful.🇬🇧🤠

In his book 'How Westminster Works...And Why It Doesn't', @iandunt.bsky.social says similar about local reporting in the UK.
I like "Anxiety", but also finding its the Millennial/Y version of this meme for Gen X. Suspensefully waiting for either the brooding "Now and then I think of when we were together..." from Gotye I'm used to or Doechii bursting through the door with "Anxiety, keep on trying me...".
Such a loss, the last people who lived this history are leaving us. As an Irishman, he also reminds us how many non-UK nationals have served in Britain's defence. The VE Day (May 8th) and VJ Day (Aug 15th) 80th anniversaries this year will be so important.
Most powerful thing I've watched in a while. Hauntingly good acting and camera, and deals bluntly with online safety and radicalisation of boys. The third and fourth episodes are especially tough viewing, but worth watching. #Adolescence

I'm in a different professional field but was diagnosed into my 30s as well and so much of this chimes ("I have a system", the mourning of past mistakes and loss opportunities, feeling like compensating with extra time spent). Thank you for posting. #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek
This is an exceptional piece of writing by an anonymous barrister recently diagnosed with ADHD.

🎶Through thе comets and the stones
She is howling for her bones
Singin' alone to the stars and sun
And if she didn't fly, nor would you and I
A forever hero for humankind.🎶
Boppy, quirky and hopeful dance number. Love it.

Germany and Sweden are catchy so I get the 10 placement for streaming, though figured Malta would be higher. My other faves: Ireland (personal fave but not one I'd tip to win), Iceland and Luxembourg. #Eurovision2025

Interesting look at why the Government has shifted from seeking to avoid restructure to abolition of NHS England. The Lansley aim to somehow 'depoliticise' the NHS never been thought to work - no one thinks the DHSC Secretary isn't already responsible - but still a big move.
Thanks so much to our speaker Hannah Bays for her prepared speech tonight on her work in art and 'Mediatory Devices in Rome'🎨, and to our four guests tonight. It was also wonderful to see so many of our guests step up for off-the-cuff Table Topics, along with some of our regulars.
