Huge fan of 138. Close to the bike parking area and adjacent entrance. Close to the play area. Close to food. Close to restrooms. Covered. Over the bullpen. My favorite section. (Only drawback is you can’t see the big board 🤷♂️)

Curtain wall, clearly stolen from SeaTac airport.
Galactic empire-inspired architecture at SAN.
The San Diego airport appears to be an architectural mashup of a bunch of other airports. The glass wall from SeaTac, the three-terminal-plus-security cluster f*** point from Philly (not shown), and whatever this is from Darth Sidious International on Coruscant.
A series of departures and a yearlong vacancy have effectively shut down D.C.'s Board of Zoning Adjustment.
Meanwhile, one couple’s home sits half-built while they live in a temporary apartment, waiting for a hearing that could be delayed indefinitely. Contributor Suzie Amanuel has the story:
There are areas where the mayoral candidates are similar, or a little vague, or won’t have the deciding power anyway. But regarding bicycling, the difference is stark. @janeese4dc.bsky.social will keep us and our kids safe. moderatesforjaneese.substack.com/p/janeese-le...
Cute but dumb bike rack design
NOPE:
Yeah, it’s definitely not deep red, but I think my photo makes it a bit more washed out than in person.
Stamped concrete trial to replace brick sidewalks.
I noticed this stamped concrete on 10th Street this evening and wondered if it’s a @ddotdc.bsky.social pilot, then I read @cmcharlesallen.bsky.social’s newsletter that confirmed it is. First impression is positive. Sure, it’s not quite as nice looking as good brick, but seems better in other ways.
Seems fine. If we have to reinvent the inverted U, this seems decent. I agree with others, it’s pretty.
I think we’re about the same age, but i don’t think I’ve ever heard of this show, which is wild. What was it on?
Janeese Lewis George, GGWash's pick for DC mayor, outlines her plan to build more housing in the District.
What’s frustrating is that install L1 charger is cheap and easy. No big equipment or grid costs. That’s why it should be the focus for many businesses and multifamily buildings.
Pile of snow melting at RFK parking lots.
Portage glacier visitor center where the glacier has receded miles.
Watching what it takes to melt a medium big pile of snow at RFK gives me a lot of appreciation for the idea that *glaciers are receding*. This is Portage glacier from the visitors center. When I was a kid you could see the glacier from here.
DOEE also has forthcoming grants for multifamily housing to install charging. @ddotdc.bsky.social is also working to install more curbside L2 charging.
There’s the upgraded station on Benning just to the east of the bridge. Four ports. But we do need more of these. @ddotdc.bsky.social has its latest round of federal NEVI funding out to support more fast charger deployment.
Also, most DC residents drive relatively little, so basic 110v charging at home works for many. Doesn’t work well if you don’t have offstreet parking or live in a multifamily building, but we’re making progress on those fronts too.
Do these still have magical Ray of Sunshine powers where the rain can’t touch you while riding them? Would have loved that this morning.
Bald eagle that obviously supports No Kings.
Bald eagle sighted while crossing the Douglass Memorial Bridge on the way to #NoKings. Nature gets it.

Battle of the Wipes: the Final Update!
Young child safely biking on 15th street.
The 15th Street bike lanes make biking safer and easier for so many people, not least the youngest riders. @hillfamilybiking.org #bikedc

Amazing turnout today with
@hillfamilybiking.org to protest the removal of the 15th St bike lanes. Such a dumb idea to remove such a valuable resource.
Hill *country*, it’s what we’ll be once they take away all the bike lanes, just cruising through the (urban) country.
Kid: Yessssss, wait, nooooooo, wait maybe?

Induction cookoff with candidates at the Healthy Homes Fair.
The induction cook off at the Healthy Homes Fair was fun! A friendly competition between DC candidates who showed up to support an event focused on empowering District residents’ energy choices, helping them save money on utilities, and making their homes healthier. @electrifydc.bsky.social
Report back once the multiplier kicks in.
3 up, 2 down ride I presume? Nice one.
