My favorite joke from Forrest Gump:

Bubba: "You ever been on a real shrimp boat?"
Gump: "No. But I've been on a real big boat."

Yesterday I shared a waiting room with an old timer. At some point he said something about me having a lot of time on this earth, and I genuinely thought, "I fucking hope not. This place has turned into a goddamn shithole. The good guys don't win, everything is shit." then nodded my head and smiled

My favorite quote from the book is probably a pretty popular one, judging from how many people highlighted it on my Kindle Electronic Reading Device.

"The party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

that is his life in Oceania. The book is not written as a drama, but more like a documentary. Cold, unflinching, matter of fact.

I understand all the references that I've heard in my life now, which is always nice.

the story that was going to start in part two. Once we got into part two though, we started cooking. I never really rooted for Winston because he's just not a likable character. Props to Orwell for making me feel that way about him. It also helped me to feel more like a passenger in the ride

1984 by George Orwell. I started with this book for obvious reasons. With our (US) society close to being completely upended, I thought a look into totalitarian rule would be helpful. The book is broken into three parts, and while the first part was very intriguing, it was mostly just setup for

So I'm going to post the books I read throughout the year and a small blurb about what I feel about them. I hope you enjoy some of it.

that into the book I'm trying to read. Whether it is the story, the writing style, whatever. It could be anything. But it manifests in me getting tired/distracted. When I'm into a book, I'm INTO IT.

This year I am looking to read more. And by more, I pretty much mean anything at all. Context: It has been years since I've been able to finish a book. When I'd start reading, I would get sleepy within ten minutes and have to either nap or do something else. Now I recognize that as me just not being

Why the hell does Forest Whitaker always have some weird accent that has no place in the movie he's in? The one in Arrival is a good example.

This is an insane deal. $2.49 for Slay the Spire, a game I have put over 200 hours into. If you're one of the few who don't have the game already, this is your opportunity!

Are they going to release the Epstein files at midnight like a World of Warcraft expansion? If so, midnight EST or PST? I hope it's enough to put these creeps under the jail.

That's the impression I got from MKW. I tried out Crossworlds and really enjoyed it. I was surprised!

I'm confused. The voting isn't done by the volume of the audience. Why would booing or cheering matter?

Looks good! I actually wouldn't mind retry prompt also having the animation. It's classic.

Ah okay thanks for explaining. I couldn't agree more. I personally feel instant retry is hostile to the player.

Somehow I don't really believe that you, in fact, 'love cats'

I'm on the opposite side. I think that we all know want what we want, and keeping track of that for a large group of people in a neat little package (retry systems) just isn't possible.

When in doubt, provide options. We have the technology. The player should be able to choose.

I'd love to be in a country where the Bible is banned. It's time to go back to when people kept their delusions to themselves. You're talking about an imaginary God when you could instead focus on actual people being murdered. You have no room to question anyone's priorities.
