It’s nice to see unreal making use of more cores for animation graphs. I hope there isn’t some trap where some nodes will force it all back onto the game thread.

A character sprite from Final Fantasy 5 wearing sunglasses.
First time playing Final Fantasy V and recognising some of the sprite changes for status debuffs are great.
No idea what LibreWolf is doing to pngs I upload but I don't need it to protect me so much it corrupts everything.
Typst (typst.app) is pretty interesting as an alternative to LaTeX. Certainly a lot easier to install locally and the syntax is closer to markdown in a number of ways.
I wasn’t directly on the Planet Coaster 2 team for launch but I helped out with the massive Flume Physics update we have coming out this week.
It was a lot of work for the team and it’s great to see how much of an improvement it makes to both the visuals and gameplay.

Looks like they packed Aus, China and Japan all together at the start of the F1 season this year (maybe last year as well?) so I don’t need to pay for some way to watch it for another month. I’d prefer to sleep in on the Sunday.
I’m late to the party but yeah, Neva is good. It’s also a length I can complete this year (he says starting at the 80+ hour RPG pile).
A 4K blu ray copy of Godzilla Minus One and a blu ray copy of Shin Godzilla.
This weekend has a theme. (Can’t wait)
Progress was slow converting my day to day usage to NixOS but most of it is in place now.
Next project is learning Zig I think.
Started moving to Linux for my day to day personal computer use but it seems I chose hard mode: NixOS (this isn’t my first time using Linux).
This is going to take a while to get right.
New video: Designing a good color picker: youtu.be/HOvnm5JrXbw?...
What makes a color picker good, how does it fit into workflows, and can you see the difference between two pants?
I’m happy with my past self for putting in a little effort on a personal work tool.
Last week it went from me+a few other users to well over a hundred in a few hours (thanks to an OS update removing features) and I had to rush fixes and additions.
A little effort up front = faster changes later.
Wanted to try GeForce Now before shelling out for it to see if I can use it during my holidays but I’ve spent 10 minutes of the hour free session length compiling shaders…
Not long now until the release of the first full game I contributed to since rejoining Frontier - Planet Coaster 2.

Never played the original Silent Hill 2 but the use of lighting and positional audio in the remake is incredibly effective.
Controller haptics tied to some audio and the radio static coming through the controller speaker is surprisingly good at increasing tension.
I’m most of the way through Still Wakes the Deep and while it lost its Most Northern Game title, it’s still a great example of using lighting and audio to create tension.
Still not sure how an info poster from Australia about fire extinguishers came to be plastered around a Scottish oil rig though.
It’s kind of wild that I can buy Tim Tams in UK supermarkets for less than I can at supermarkets back home in Australia. I guess I don’t need to keep any space in my luggage when I visit home now.
@ozone.birb.house can I get the Game Dev label please.
Kind of disappointed that I couldn’t return home for SIGGRAPH Asia but those flight prices are ludicrous.
Between the blender conference talks and the RE Engine/Capcom talks there’s a lot of interesting technical content to watch this week.

RE/Capcom: youtube.com/@CAPCOM_RandD
I wonder if there are translations of the 2019 RE Engine content. Some anim talks in there
