The prose of #DemonCopperhead is so devastatingly lyrical yet subtly colloquial that it's like a whole novel written in the style of @johnprine.bsky.social, I keep expecting to be introduced to Sam Stone or Donald and Lydia. Just stunning, #barbarakingsolver

I asked AI to make my wife a card yesterday. Here's the prompt: "A traditional Valentine's Day card expressing everlasting love featuring a beautiful horse and an Australian cattle dog standing on a tropical beach looking adorable". #AIart
"I guess when all is said and done, what I'm really interested in — what really throws the logs on my fire — is language." - #tomrobbins www.npr.org/2025/02/09/1...
Another board on.
The creek flows, and the pond fills
slowly, until full.
Thanks to Richland Library & @seanrayford.bsky.social for presenting this important show. It's a tough subject matter, but I'm glad to live in a city where I can bring my daughter to experience world-class documentary photography. Go see this: www.richlandlibrary.com/gallery/hele... #richlandlibrary
How do you beat Authoritarian PT Barnum?
You recognize that American politics is a TV show and you give the media exciting content.
This is the way!
Went to breakfast with this old guy this morning. Dad came too.
This is how you say “go fuck yourself sideways with a porcupine” in inspector general speak.
Going to be interesting to see how the administration responds
Made with a fancy aged gochujang that Rachel got me for Christmas along with gochugaru, Allepo and Urfa peppers, and some fried shallots, my latest chili crisp is much less spicy than my usual Szechuan version. That's why it's named after Mt. Halla - a long extinct volcano in Korea. #chilicrisp
I like it here so far! Hope you're doing well!
Clipping this one for my growing file entitled "Resources for Sylvie's 2037 sophomore paper on the abdication of journalistic principles by the weak ass #NewYorkTimes during the Trump era".
Rev. Mariann Edgar Budde to Trump: "I ask you to have mercy upon the people in our country who are scared now. There are gay, lesbian, and transgender people in Democratic, Republican, and independent families, some who fear for their lives ... and the vast majority of immigrants are not criminals"
Making small moves to support journalism that doesn't capitulate. Keep it up @rollingstone.com.web.brid.gy
illustration of a panopticon, a central tower surrounded by cells. In the central tower is the watchman. In the cells are prisoners – or workers, or children, depending on the use of the building. The tower shines bright light so that the watchman is able to see everyone in the cells. The people in the cells, however, aren’t able to see the watchman, and therefore have to assume that they are always under observation.

Second year of (mostly) no-candy advent calendar.
Starting to define some spaces by transplanting some #littlebluestem I identified (and didn't cut) this summer.
I'll save for myself our lovely conversation - both that morning as they saw the photos for the first time and the correspondence that has continued.
Here's to N and W.
I grabbed this and a few other shots with my phone, careful not to interfere, and continued packing. A few minutes passed, and I glanced out again. The couple was still there, and it was reasonably clear that the main moment was over. So I wandered downstairs to share the images I made.
A tale of whimsy and connection for old friends and new on @bsky.app. The week before the election, I spent a night in #Montmartre. It was my first blurry morning in France, so I opened wide my tiny hotel room window and happened upon a delicate tableau one story down in the plaza below #photography
"The leading causes of premature death are cars and guns. 4000 years ago, they didn’t have a single death from either. You expect me to believe it’s a coincidence that this changed right around the time they stopped balancing their phlegm and bile humors?" @mcsweeneys.bsky.social

I’ll just leave this here…
This little girl lost another tooth (3 in 4 days) and couldn't stop laughing for the photo. She has no idea about politics and it makes me feel better to hang out with her. Hi @bsky.app, I'm happy to be here
