I think the core issue is our sprawl.
Holly, I hate to be pessimistic but Calgary will never have good transit, outside of ctrain and max lines, while my time in Calgary is up.
If you can help us out, it would mean a lot. Click the link below. Help us hold the line.
And you'll see me doing this again in a year. I'll be cringing then, too. Help ease the pain by making this worthwhile.

We are finally getting a bit of that vibe in Downtown West End along the path to Eau Claire Plaza. I feel that the office to building conversions (11 in DTW) will add vibrancy. I feel that we are slowly getting there with all the positive initiatives in the greater downtown area.
A studio portrait shows Ryan Stiles standing against a plain white background. He is wearing a dark suit jacket over a light blue dress shirt, paired with a patterned blue tie and a matching pocket square. His hair is short and styled back, and he has a slight smile. The lighting is even and bright, giving the image a clean, professional look.
Happy birthday to Ryan Stiles, born on this day in 1959!
Raised in Vancouver, he has had a steady acting career since the 1980s, beginning with an appearance on The Beachcombers. He is best-known for his work with Whose Line Is It Anyway?.
He is an Emmy nominee.
A color action photo shows Guy Lafleur skating on the ice during a hockey game. He is wearing a red Montreal Canadiens uniform with blue and white striping and the number 10 on his sleeve. He leans forward while controlling the puck with his stick, his skates angled as he moves across the ice. The boards and glass are visible behind him, with a blurred crowd in the background.
On this day in 2022, Guy Lafleur died.
Born in 1951, in his Hall of Fame career he won five Stanley Cups, three Art Ross, two Harts, three Lester B. Pearsons and a Conn Smythe. He remains the Montreal Canadiens leading scorer with 1,246 points.

🤔. Will have to keep an eye out…
My understanding is that residential street sweeping is done once a year. Major roads and downtown are done frequently due to high traffic volume. I have often heard sweepers in DTW overnight.
“The real issue is that housing has been framed primarily as a vehicle for retirement wealth, instead of a necessity for people and a basic right.”
This misplaced priority lies at the core of Canada’s housing crisis. Without changing this perspective, the affordability problem will persist.
As an e-bike rider, I concur with the classification/rules recommendations from @shifter.info and @cailynn.bsky.social. PS I like the term “pedelec”
How do we improve the rules and regulations around e-bikes? Here's Tom's thoughts, after wading through thousands of responses from people around the world. With a little help from me!
Thank you for the detailed analysis. I emailed the premier (premier@gov.ab.ca ) expressing these concerns.
So true. I am finding this more so now that Canadian media is blocked by some social media platforms. So much bad information out there…
Each councillor should propose a location in their ward that will house these facilities. It’s time for all of Calgary to pitch in to help and not leave it for just downtown.
Thank you. 👏🏾
“But as our elected officials go about reinventing Calgary’s default residential zoning rules yet again, they will come up against same challenges as last council - so don’t be shocked if what emerges on other side of this latest exercise doesn’t look too different from what was just thrown out.”
Unpopular opinion: removing the fuel excise tax and the previous removal of the carbon tax on gasoline does not help the consumer in the long run, it puts more money into the hands of the petroleum companies.
“He took a party that was a bus with no brakes headed for a brick wall and somehow managed to not only pull it from the brink of oblivion, but then within a year, get it into a majority position.”
This comments lacks “specificity” ;)
We were very fortunate to have them MC the HP Rodeo’s Ten Minute Play Festival this year. What a hoot.
I so dislike the phrase “that is not who we are” when anyone uses it. So, “It’s just not who we are as Americans”?? Guess what … you are!!
