Thanks for being an inspiration and reminding me why we do the damn thing @amywestervelt.bsky.social
Over the last few months it has been difficult to show an enviro journalist. Things have felt futile and heavy and I keep asking myself “what’s the point?” Then I listen to or read amazing climate journalism like @drilledmedia.bsky.social and I am reinvigorated.
"The main challenge with data centers, and really any large industrial water user that’s connected to the municipal supply is that there is a lack of transparency around water usage," great story via @devinnunnari.bsky.social.
Thank you so much for sharing!
Or at least honestly about the state of our aging water infrastructure so citizens know to filter

Yesterday at the grocery store a woman reached around me in the check out line saying “Ope sorry, just grabbin a pop” and while I miss Colorado in a lot of ways, I sure missed people saying “ope” and “pop”
If any cuyahoga valley national park employees who have been affected by the national park layoffs wants to chat with me for an article, I would love to hear how this is impacting you and our nation park as a whole. DMs are open!
Ohio’s first oil & gas explosion of 2025—100-ft flames at Gulfport’s Groh Well pad. Officials claim no impact, but with incidents every 1.5 days, how much do we really know?
FracTracker’s Ted Auch: “This is a death by a thousand cuts.”
Couldn’t agree more!
Yes!!! Thank you. I no longer live in Boulder so I haven’t experienced it in a while. I believe there is one at the intersection of walnut and 28th! And also baseline and Mohawk
That makes a lot of sense too!
I promise there are at least two lights in Boulder, CO where there is a pedestrian walk symbol while there is a green arrow or at least where the drivers have the ability to turn left on a green light
I agree! But I also think green left turn arrows during the pedestrian walk symbol is even more deadly. So many cars just barrel through without looking. A car came within less than a foot of hitting me once!
I think about this almost daily.
Check out my latest Burning River News article, where I highlight the environmental impacts of Fracking on Ohio communities.

“Because it does not include money funneled through dark-money groups – which do not have to reveal their donors – it is almost certainly a vast understatement”
One of the darkest, but less reported, aspects of Trump’s anti-trans order this week IMO is that he directed the DOJ to remove protections for trans prisoners from Prison Rape Elimination Act guidelines. Story at @theappeal.org today from @byadamrhodes.bsky.social: theappeal.org/trump-execut...
An icy blue sweater in stockinette stitch
Earlier this week I finished knitting my first sweater! 🎉 My goal is to make most of my own clothes to bring myself closer to the labor it takes to make garments, to create a wardrobe of sustainable fibers, and to build new skill sets and patience.
While I’m not sure what keeps drawing me back, I’ve lived in SC and Colorado and neither could keep me from coming back home. I gave up MOUNTAINS to be here!
I consider myself more of a sewist than a knitter so that sounds great to me!
