i know i'm immunized to gamer toxicity due to over a decade of dota 2 exposure but people who get crippling anxiety over making a phone call should probably not be your target demographic when designing the social aspects of your social game client

Fighting games have the same exact problem with online matchmaking imo, they're such an inherently social experience that when you remove the ability to talk to your opponent it just serves to dehumanize them and make it easier for you to paint whatever narrative you want onto them
