There are literally not enough journalists employed in the US to cover the bad shit that is happening right now. We are now going to experience the social consequences of a weakened news industry--which are the same as the benefits of a weakened news industry, to those who weakened it.
GREAT book rec for Black history month about the badass, Black nurses who helped find a cure for tuberculosis. I recently interviewed one of these nurses, 93-year-old Virginia Allen. โThe Black Angelsโ by Maria Smilios tells the story of Virginia & her colleagues. Their story should be remembered!

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

BREAKING: The NLRB has just ruled that captive audience meetings are illegal nationwide.
These are mandatory meetings where bosses try to persuade workers not unionize, often using coercive tactics.
