I do find this insistence on contingency and hedging survivors’ accounts really tedious. Andrew Cuomo was found to have sexually harassed Lindsay Boylan—and many others—by the New York Attorney General.

This is why I go so hard about studying entertainment as politically relevant media. Viewers may be learning about these issues for the first time, or connecting to what they’ve already experienced. And how they make sense of entertainment as politically relevant will affect what happens next.
This case is very important. It speaks to privacy, child abuse, unregulated tech, and to how we treat sex crimes.
In an American public that is both highly sexualized, yet deeply restrictive in terms of the sexual wellbeing and autonomy of young people...

The president will take time out of his busy schedule of overseeing an illegal war, sending ICE to airports, and designing a ballroom to try to intimidate justices into upholding his policy that could put immigration agents in every labor and delivery ward in the US

Additionally, most surveillance efforts do not have information on age. In our study, we do - enhancing our understanding of age related patterns in abortion - but again - this is a specific case.
Why do I feel so strongly about making these distinctions?
Well, first and foremost, we need to be clear about the science.
Because of this, our results only speak to patterns for specific study conditions, while other surveillance efforts (Guttmacher, #WeCount) have been surveying *many* providers for several years - and speak to broad nationwide (US) patterns over a longer time period
Our study looks at *one* telehealth provider during a *specific* point in time
This is important - because there are many websites, clinics, and services providing this type of care - we are only able to study one (but I argue, important) piece of the landscape
I have seen a touch of confusion in the reporting and discussion around our recent study on AYA request for medication abortion from an online telemedicine service
particularly in the context of new research from theGuttmacher team on the persistent increase in folks using telehealth for abortion
June Jordan said, "Activism... propels you forward, from one hard hour to the next. Believing that you can do something to make things better, you do something, rather than nothing... You do whatever you can. You reach beyond yourself in your imagination, and in your wish for understanding.“
If you're engaged in organizing that needs more people to join, share those opportunities in every way you can. Invite people to join in. Keep making the invitations because most people don't join the first time you ask. For every 10 people you invite, you might get one person who will take it up.
In this @us.theconversation.com op-ed, @danamartha.bsky.social (@wisccore.bsky.social) and @lauralindberg.bsky.social (@rutgerssph.bsky.social) break down their research on how teens are accessing abortion pills via telehealth, why it matters, and what further research is needed.

Telehealth remains essential
With what seems to be fewer people traveling to abortion supportive states for care, and more folks accessing abortion via telehealth

Those are DACA recipient Juan Chavez Velasco's words. He was driving to visit his baby in the NICU when ICE detained him.
Juan told agents his DACA status. They said, "that doesn’t matter."

1/2. He took the greatest military force in history, lost a war to a middle power in a week, begged the world to save him, & demanded the media lie about this & everything else. I try, but at a simple human level I do not see how anyone mistakes this man’s almost supernatural weakness for strength.
