Oscar injured then. Good to see Forson and McConneville in there

I thoroughly enjoyed giving that grub and obnoxious cretin a second off. My housemate wasn’t at the game (unlike me) and was listening on radio Bristol. He immediately commented on the chants when I saw him and said “I bet you enjoyed that” 😂 Yes, I very much did!
This Saturday night (18th April), I’ll be heading a “bass and bleeps and breaks” special at Cosies in Bristol, with proceeds from the door going to NHS mental health charity Headlight. Details via the link below

During the 2000s, Anu Pillai made some incredible, game-changing records and remixes as Freeform Five, before becoming a successful songwriter and producer for other artists. I thought it was time to look back at his earlowe and surprisingly, he agreed.

The three ages of gammon.
Quote: “Lampard was left aghast when referee Anthony Backhouse waved away the hosts’ appeals for a penalty after Wright and Furlong clashed on the edge of the box”
I looked at reports of some of the matches he reffed involving Ipswich and this (BBC Sport, report on the game at Cov a few months ago) stood out
Not all of those six Ipswich games were champ ones - one was their win over Accrington Stanley in the FA cup. Of the champ games, one was their win at Coventry
Table showing results records of clubs in games refereed by Anthony Backhouse. Ipswich Town have played 6 games, won 5, drawn 1 and lost 0. Norwich City have played 6 games, won 1, drawn 1 and lost 4
#ncfc A few yesterday were speculating about the record of ref Anthony Backhouse in games involving that lot from Suffolk. He has officiated the same number of games involving them and us. The two records are almost opposite results wise
They look organised and good enough at grinding to get over the line. That said, their next game away at Pompey could well be one of the worst games of football of the season given what we have seen from both sides recently. Saints game will be tough too.
For all the money spent, every time I see Ipswich they look mediocre. No wonder Coventry are miles ahead at the top. Suspect both will struggle next year in the Greed Is Good league
100%. Frustrating result but he has worked wonders and they have spent a fortune to basically grind to promotion in the dullest way possible (despite some talented attacking players). PC has done a terrific job and with players back plus some squad tweaks we are looking good for next season
MRGA - Make Referees Great Again… or passable at least!
I took my mum’s dog out in a brief spell of sunshine and walked up a steep hill flanked by ancient trees. Helped a bit. As does a lack of alcohol today - if I’d had a few beers I would be in a deep depression by now 😂
Maybe. The way Nunez was giving it large at the end after a ludicrous cameo where all he did was miss with a free kick attempt, commit fouls and get taken off is genuinely ridiculous. What a clown 🤡
Yep. In another scenario - ie no freebie pen and 0-0 for much longer, or us ahead and then having to chase, it would have been a completely different game. With Toure on and them pushing we would have created more I think.
McKenna was wise not to start him. If he had it would have been chaos from the start and probably a completely difeerent result
They were very effective - organised to sit deep and occasionally break and make the most of set pieces. They did. This is our issue - when teams do that or make it scrappy we struggle (see also Pompey game recently). That said, the early joke pen and non Nunez sending off did not help
None of our players, in either game, have properly clattered him. That is what he deserves - his legs taken from under him over and over again.
Should have been sent off for a second yellow twice mind. Bloody ref
Given how much money they have spent elsewhere on their squad, you think they would have gone for someone better than that league one clogger. His dad was far better!
Never a pen. Shocking decision. One nil to the referee!!
And the Academy Award for Best Actor goes to Jack Taylor 🙄
Part of the appeal for those in the region (East Anglia) is that the teams effectively represent two different counties - Norfolk and Suffolk. This county rivalry is deep rooted (if friendly aside from the football) and goes back centuries
Two friends of mine got married there a few years ago, on a chilly but mostly sunny day in January. Was fantastic. The evening party was in the “crypt” of the church - fantastic vibe. Definitely one of the more unique places I have deejayed
They seem to be. A few weeks ago one of my research participants let slip he was an Ipswich fan. We had a bit of light hearted banter and he then admitted he was quite worried about the derby and our form. McKenna seems to have set up to frustrate and get a draw. We will see!
Oddly I feel a bit less tense and stressed than normal - maybe that is why! I will be a bag of nerves by kick-off though!
Of course and that is perfectly valid. Criticism is fine and especially important when it comes to big, hyped nonsense.
That said, there was one album (by Paul Oakenfold) that was so awful and offensive that I went to town and gave it zero stars out of five. It ended: “Please Mr Oakenfold, take your ‘Bunkka’ and f*ck off”. Can’t say I’d get that vitriolic now - however much of an arse Oakenfold was and remains
It is. When I was reviews editor of a dance music magazine back in the 2000s, we decided to ignore music we thought was terrible and fill that space with amazing obscure stuff we thought deserved coverage. The exception was “big” albums by massive acts that we kind of had to review.
