I appreciate @michaeldemoor.bsky.social humouring me and ducking out of work early to go twitching for a Brant spotted near Fort Saskatchewan this afternoon. That’s love.
Thank you! It’s been an exciting if slow start due to the cold and snowy April so far.

Hundreds of Northern pintails taking off from a farmer’s field.
I’m always stunned by the size of flocks of northern pintails. There were easily a thousand in this farmer’s field this afternoon.

We’ve raised good kids who are willing to help and care for their neighbours of all backgrounds. They are not cynical and are not cruel but kind and loving. That is resistance in a society that expects and rewards cruelty.

We got a new baby. He’s 8 weeks old and named Trinculo. Frodo needs reassurance that despite the new sibling I still love him.

All I’m saying is you need a mullet like that. Your mom would love it.
Just reread this yesterday. I forgot what a kick in the gut it is. So good but not easy.
Oh my goodness! A truly great actor who could turn in a great performance in the most serious epic or artiest stage play and the silliest public tv show (Edgar Montrose was a great comic creation). Rest in peace!

The world feels like it’s falling apart but this man and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary two days ago and for that I am grateful.
Good. I’m becoming a Canadian citizen next week and I put in all that work to be Canadian not just Albertan.
I find They Might Be Giants already did that for me.
It was two days by train to Jasper, then another train to Prince George BC, then a bus to Dawson Creek, then another bus to Whitehorse where we rented a car. I think it took about four days but that’s because the train and bus went overnight as well.

Furthest East I’ve been is Shanghai China, so far East I had to West to get there.
We decided not to go to the US this year and I’m an American citizen. We have a non binary kid, and my husband is an outspoken academic against the current US administration. I miss visiting my family and friends in Michigan but it just wasn’t safe for us.
