Reporters: Do your editors want to rewrite and reword the questions you're going to ask in an interview? I mean, I can see having a discussion about the direction, but the actual wording? Is this weird? It seems weird to me. I don't talk like them, it's going to be weird to ask their questions.
Do you realize that dense urban living is the most sustainable way for humans to exist?
Not living in a highly urbanized place *is* selfish and bad for the planet, and we should stop buying the romanticized bullshit about the supposed purity of unsustainable lifestyles.
that's what I'm talkin about historians ...
Happy Earth Day! Walt Kelly’s iconic strip celebrating Earth Day appeared on April 22, 1971. His message has only become more relevant, and urgent, in the years that followed.
a world without trans people in it will always worse than one with them
I haven't used it, but it sounds a bit like how I've seen scrivener used by book people.

"In nature there are neither rewards nor punishments, only consequences." - Robert Ingersoll.
Also FDR!
That's 3.8% of last year.
"Why are we not living on Mars and building things there already?"
Because we spend 25 times more money killing people and destroying things on earth.
In this case, malicious compliance may be indistinguishable from actual compliance...
Great round up and historical background.
it is devastating to notice how few benches there are in the world and how some benches have been replaced by weird "leaning" things. the world is incredibly cruel to disabled, elderly, poor, pregnant, tired, homeless, and all people. there should be benches fucking everywhere for everyone
"I Void Warranties"! Fantastic!
"If it wasn't for the honor, I'd rather not have been blacklisted." - Lee Hays of The Weavers
I'm glad folks are leaving substack now, but also I remember when [prominent YA comic artist we all love] quietly turned down a five (six? it was very high) figure sum they offered to get him to join, and that was years ago. Not signing up for stupid shit from the start is the only correct approach.
Some fun news: I finally built a standalone webcomic site for The Goblin Throne! If you're interested in a nice, easy place to read the first two parts of this graphic novel (perhaps before the Kickstarter goes live in June, wink wink), this is the place for you 😈 www.thegoblinthrone.com/comic/001/
It's super cool when you try to remind people to use alt text thoughtfully and thoroughly, with consideration for blind and visually impaired people, and in response they block you.
Cool cool cool.

This makes me feel ill. This goes so far against traditional Jewish values. This rabbi should be imprisoned not carrying being celebrated in any way whatsoever.

It's a really, really big deal
I worked at a Sunglass Hut the summer between undergrad and grad school in 2005(?) and that was just enough of an insight into Luxottica’s business practices that I’ve been very anti-Luxottica ever since.
$200 should (and can if you buy online) buy you multiple pairs of glasses.
PSA : Layla Law Gisiko spoke at a rally with Curtis Sliwa and far right MAGA council member Vickie Paladino against the affordable housing ballot measures Curtis Sliwa Vickie Paladino Blaylalawgisiko
so, uh, one of the bluest city council districts in Manhattan might elect a NIMBY MAGA Trojan horse candidate who rallied with republicans against affordable housing ballot measures
if you live on the west side please go vote and rank Carl Wilson AND @lindseyboylan.bsky.social to stop her!
