Cops keep showing up to arts events about Palestine. What can organizers do? Toronto police showed up at a comedy fundraiser and at a film screening on the same night in April. Organizers describe how this fits into a broader pattern and what can be done to protect community…

On April 4, TPS entered the lobby of Comedy Bar moments before the start of a fundraising event for Gaza.

That same night, cops entered a theatre at TIFF Lightbox midway through a screening of 'Palestine 36.'

I dug into this concerning trend for @thegrindto.bsky.social.

Feels like today the Liberals will get their majority and the door will firmly close on Ontario getting pharmacare, at least for the next three years. The pharma industry must be happy.

By this logic, we should all wait for bureaucrats to do a bunch of studies on the 401 tunnel before taking any position on it.

Liberal MPs and candidates in Toronto have been very unclear about their position on jets at the island airport, from what I've seen. Would be easy to take a clear position but they haven't.

The Greens and NDP campaigning in the Toronto byelections should be shouting that a Liberal majority means people in Ontario won't get pharmacare. Carney's Libs will only do it in a minority, and even then only with a fight. Haven't heard this at all yet.

Lmao. So the Weston family launched a new media outlet "Be Giant," and their newsletter is called... "The Leap." That is also the name of the org that emerged from The Leap Manifesto, which was viciously attacked in corporate media for going after oligarchs like the Westons.

OPINION: The U.S. and Israel are the Real Threats in West Asia

After Netanyahu and Trump started this war on Iran, Trump has gotten increasingly hysterical, threatening this morning that “a whole civilization will die tonight” if Iran doesn’t agree to his demands.

Why does the Toronto police budget keep rising, while other city services strain for funding?

In our new cover story, @aliyapabani.bsky.social explains how a taxpayer-funded comms machine ensures that the police budget only goes up, even when crime goes down.

Tanker carrying fuel originally bound for Cuba diverts to Trinidad, shipping data shows The U.S. move to choke off fuel supply to Cuba's government could cause more outages.

Looks like the Cuba-bound tanker with Russian oil aboard was diverted a couple days ago and went to Trinidad instead. This is the same tanker that was bound for Cuba in February then had its route suspended and was floating in the Atlantic for weeks, then tried again.

Very interesting that this press conference is TPS and TPA but it's an OPP report. No one from OPP there to answer questions. Asked about it, TPS chief says if there are questions about how the press conference is being run, ask TPS corporate comms.

I think this ship that was turned around was the one that was supposed to come soon. The U.S. made it sound like countries would just be sanctioned if they sent oil, but this case makes it look more like there was an armed naval blockade.

Dunno if it was widely reported but Russia tried sending a huge shipment of oil to Cuba and two weeks ago it looks like it was turned around in the Atlantic by the US navy.

Chief Myron Demkiw to Hold Media Availability on OPP Report, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., Toronto Police Headquarters, 2nd Floor Auditorium

Seeing the Toronto Police Association president is speaking alongside police chief Demkiw at today's presser about the new OPP report on the Umar Zameer / Jeffrey Northrup case makes me think the officers aren't facing serious consequences. But who knows!

Gaza man with Down's syndrome attacked by IDF dog and left to die, mother says Muhammed Bhar's family wants the Israeli military to investigate his death in Gaza City this month.

And when a hardcore Israel supporter is calling for this, it's hard not to be reminded of Muhammed Bhar, the autistic boy in Gaza who was attacked by an IDF dog and died alone after the IDF ordered his family to leave.
