Capped Heron.
Pantanal, Brazil.

The capped heron is a water bird endemic to the neotropics, inhabiting rainforest from the center of Panama to the south of Brazil. It is the only species of the genus Pilherodius, and one of the least known of the heron family, Ardeidae.

NEW MEMBERS APPOINTED TO THE COMMISSION OF FINE ARTS; RODNEY MIMS COOK, JR. VOTED CHAIRMAN | Commission of Fine Arts At its meeting of 22 January 2026, the Commission elected Mr. Cook, founder and president of the National Monuments Foundation in Atlanta, Georgia, to be the new chairman of the Commission. The Commission also voted James C. McCrery II, professor at the Catholic University of America's School of Architecture and Allied Arts, as vice chairman.  Both Mr. Cook and Mr. McCrery served previously on the Commission.

Here are the profiles. I plan on sending letters about how awful it is to do this during an economic downturn. www.cfa.gov/about-cfa/ne...

Ancient guy Trump has appointed Mary Anne Carter, Rodney Mims Cook Jr., Chamberlain Harris, Roger Kimball, James C. McCrery II, Pamela Hughes Patenaude, and Matthew Taylor to serve four-year terms on the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts in Washington, D.C. 4/16 is the meeting on the arc of Trump.

The press keeps asking stupid questions. Ask about the Epstein Files, and why the GOP hates half the voters.

I keep poo books in my guest bathroom. It is the perfect place for my collection of poo books, like Taro Gomi's classic. I also have Everybody Poops 410 Pounds a Year: An Illustrated Bathroom Companion for Grown-Ups. Someone read my book, & had a white poo. She knew to get right to medical help!

Mummy of an adolescent boy, name unknown. The body appears to have been wrapped when in an advanced state of decomposition.

The body is wrapped in fine linen, with an encaustic mummy-portrait inserted into the bandages over the face, the front panel of the wrappings has been intricately arranged into concentric diamonds, each with a gilded stud at the centre, cartonnage foot section with polychrome painted decoration. The boy has straight dark hair, cut in a Trajanic style, framing the face. His dark eyes are rendered larger than life, with dark thick eyebrows. He looks directly forward at the viewer, his head slightly turned to the left. We can just see his white chiton (tunic) and himation (cloak).

Romano-Egyptian, from Hawara, Fayum, Roman period, ca. 100-120 CE. Excavated by Sr. William Matthew Flinders Petrie.

Most people know of the beautiful ‘Fayum’ #mummy portraits from Roman Egypt, made in either tempera or encaustic (hot pigmented wax). We rarely see them as intended, inserted into their wrappings, as seen below. A gilded stud is affixed to the center of each concentric linen diamond. 🏺 1/

I think the death penalty should be enforced for extreme corruption. Then we will see if the death penalty deters people from committing crimes.

It depends on how involved voters are in that state, and if the representative/senator is using the page program. Many times, they let pages take down the information. It is not reasonable for her to limit your ability to contact your rep.

Oh! I am kind of mean. I would try to get her name, and then file a complaint with the ethics committee. I would try to find out if she is a paid/unpaid worker and take it from there.

Tell your reps you do not want to finance ICE anymore. Tell them to pay TSA and other mandatory workers. Keep harping on those Epstein files because those criminals belong in prison, so they cannot hurt more children.

How about completely getting rid of the health insurance industry. As far as I can tell, they only add costs and drive up prices. Why bother keeping that industry?

Noem spent taxpayer's money on obvious personal expenses. She did not need a make-over, horse, and location shoot to threaten residents of the United States. That loser could not do the basics of the job. Keeping to your budget should be primary for all government workers.
