J1: "Wow. This feels ripped straight from a social media stream...Vivid, contemporary AF." J2: "...strong, immersive voice that cleverly captures the chaotic energy of a live-streaming personality." J3: "Really voice-y character...scarier than an actual haunting and I appreciated that originality."
My story "Haunted AF" placed first in my heat in the 2nd round of NYC Midnight's The Scary Story Challenge 2025. THANKS! #NYCM
"A Career in Flames" got me to the 2nd round of the NYC Midnight Scary Story Challenge 2025.

Marlon Wayans 🥰 If only more parents of trans kids were like you.
Yeah!!
How can anyone not love this man.
If only we had more Marie's on the job!
I read everything linked from your site back then! I'm pretty sure I saw the first piece in Daily Science Fiction (R.I.P.). I published 2 stories there under a pen name, Cosmo Mercurio. I tried to make it to one of your classes before I moved away from Columbus but it didn't happen, unfortunately.
Bless you, Marie! (I have been a fan of your work since 2018 and now I am even more proud of that fact.)
"...Drzewiecki realizes [her work] could one day destroy Shaleea’s simple way of life, which is how she can resolve her inner conflict. The writer smartly externalizes this resolution by [spoiler]. The writer gives Drzewiecki’s journey a sweet, satisfying ending via [spoiler]."
"The writer’s script combines a science fiction planetary adventure with a comedic 'fish out of water' plot to create an amusing comedy-drama story. The main character’s narration helps to explore the internal conflict within Drzewiecki while the story unfolds on-screen..."
"...strong character work found across the story. This leads to a climax and resolution that avoids feeling trite and instead leaves the audience on a heart warming, satisfying high."
"...of heart to feel natural instead of forced. The arrival of Shaleea is an excellent catalyst for Drzewiecki to finally see Planet X as more than a dusty, backward 'ass crack', and creates a recognisable inner conflict that feels familiar to stories in this genre yet unique because of the..."
"Her no-nonsense swagger clashes with the ramshackle quality of her equipment to create some ingeniously endearing comedy moments. The innocent graciousness of the X-Planeters only fuels this 'culture clash' comedy further, while introducing vital building blocks for Drzewiecki’s eventual change..."
"The core premise of a jaded cartographer falling in love with a strange new world is a strong foundation for a charming sci-fi comedy. The opening scenes quickly set the strong comedic tone with the dynamic visuals of the crash landing to immediately connect the audience with Drzewiecki..."
I'm honored that my short screenplay "There's Red Dust in Everything" placed second in my heat. Thanks, NYC Midnight!
"I loved the format of this story, the second person narration with the casting notes at the beginning. In general, I thought the tone of the writing was wonderful and genuinely funny and witty and familiar. I also loved the protagonist, who is me I guess, but she was so relatable." 🥰
"I want to be this narrator. They're funny and self-deprecating and honest and trying to be a decent person and also rich, which doesn't hurt.... it's smart plotting, combined with a killer narrative voice. The use of second person takes it over the top. I loved it, and I was sad when it ended."😍
Title: UNTITLED THRILLER STARRING YOU
Format: Short Story, About 2500 words
Genre: Thriller/LGBTQ+
Synopsis: Despite a friend’s warnings, you take a trip to Hawaii with a superficially charming British man you just met.
Lol yeah I don't think there is any help for someone with that little sense as far as screenwriting goes.
Congrats! That seems like a difficult prompt.
That's a misuse of AI. It's a helpful assistant. I used to get sidetracked in my writing constantly by "what is that one thing called again?" or "what does that one obscure occupation involve?" etc.
I completely agree.... "looks terrified" is not good, but it's objectively better than "is terrified."
I'm honored that my short story "Untitled Thriller Starring You" placed third in my heat. Thanks, NYC Midnight!
I find it interesting that you ignored the question of permission. What you're doing is not only in poor taste but it's also copyright infringement. I suggest you delete this post. Also here's some free unsolicited feedback attached.
100%. I will add that it is perfectly acceptable to bold your slugs and the "untidy orphans" is next level anal-retentive (and as far as I can tell, not really a term that exists in the world). Quite the claim to say that "any reader" would stop because of those two items.
