I'm exactly the same. Shit, innit?

BTW your Beatles Rooftop Gig hangs in pride of place above my record collection.

Indeed... he just doesn't have that everyman quality that most Spielberg heroes have (btw... watched Minority Report for the first time the other day - same problem).

I once walked into a Specsavers store. I asked for an eye test only to be told it was one of their hearing aid outlets.

With it's (stunning) cartoon video and comical production it must have been designed to pull in a young audience (worked with me)... but lyrically, it's pretty powerful stuff:

Win or lose, sink or swim
One thing is certain, we'll never give in
Side by side, hand in hand
We all stand together

That's because one them is invisible.

The others are, made of rock, stretchy and on fire.

You realise that if we all dress as monkeys for the return of Artemis 2, when they come out of the pod, one will be invisible, one will be on fire, one will be made of rock and the last? Oh my.

Did he play the part on stage?

Different beast but the Zucker- Abrahams-Zucker trick of naming one line parts by the line is a thing of joy. “Hey, I ordered a cheeseburger” rather than “Man #3”.

I feel those old adaptations are closer to theatre pieces which gives them their tone. BTW The Outfit is on iPlayer - it feels like a stage play they couldn’t get on, so made a film instead.

Lovely article... One of the most ignored aspects of 'Life' was that they put chords to each song on the lyric sheet (repeated for the next 2 albums). As a guitar beginner at a time when the guitar mag only did metal and gods, the chance for an indie kid to buy an album and play along was priceless.

In social media parlance: This!

A company brought out a AI version of Judy Garland’s voice (have Garland voice your…!). Listening to it, I never realised she was such a dull, uninspired, predictable actor.

Did you have to flip the DVD half way through?

One of my first jobs was at a post production house in Soho. A shabby old bloke knocked at the door. My boss told me to let him in and shake his hand, “you’ll thank me later”. I did and they sloped off for a pint. Turns out that man was Bob Godfrey. My boss was right.

I'm really enjoying listening to The Lord of the Rings, but I seem to have gone through four postmen.
