I am in downtown Los Angeles right now and it is completely surreal to hear that Trump is sending Marines here. We are listening to mariachi music. People have dogs. There are teenagers here. It is utterly and completely peaceful. Please tell your friends.
“The Japanese American National Museum says Trump admin may withhold as much as $2 million approved by the Biden admin.”
“Facing pressure to scrub its website of diversity and inclusion references, a JANM leader says the museum will ‘scrub nothing.’”

Great to connect with friends and comrades at the Ohio State University this week, but they are dealing with serious govt repression there. DEI and striking just made illegal, and there is now a post tenure review process that could be used to remove tenured faculty. Solidarity!!!!
Headed to Ohio State University to give a lecture next week. What a time to be visiting as leadership and politicians there are sharpening the attacks on DEI and professors. Looking forward to be in solidarity with the activists there.
Map of federal funding that goes to WA school districts.

Book cover with the title, “Race, Curriculum, and the Politics of Educational Justice”
Preview of the cover of my next book! Coming out on @tcpress.bsky.social this fall. It’s a collection of previously published pieces from both academic spaces and some I’ve written for @rethinkingschools.bsky.social
Our “late” fascism is an ideology of crisis and decline. It enlists supporters, as Ruth Wilson Gilmore puts it, on the basis of “explicit domination set against the local reality of decreasing family wealth, fear of unemployment, threat of homelessness, and ... capitalism’s many toxicities.”
If you want to get a sense of what else is coming, this remains a valuable guide.

Book cover for "Social Studies Teacher Education" by Christopher C. Martell
Since we continue to remain in the Trump era, it is more important than ever to teach for justice. To help, I am sharing this important chapter by Sibbett and @profwayneau.bsky.social from back in 2018 on critical social studies knowledge and practice. Download it here: bit.ly/sibbett-au
Sadly, the timeliness of that chapter came back around
Victory for the people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ✊🏾❤️🎉💪🏾
I first read Leonard Peltier‘s book “Prison Writings: My Life Is My Sundance” when I was 20, & ever since I have been tormented by the great injustice done to him. Grateful to the @ndncollective.bsky.social that fought for his freedom!
My latest in @rethinkingschools.bsky.social on the anti-Black roots of the Model Minority and its damage to Asian Americans.
