Woke up this morning wanting to write

But I must work

Here’s hoping the desire (and the energy) last to this evening

If you see this, post something orange from your gallery

Perhaps a bit on the nose, but . . .

Schrödinger’s Amenities Well. Here it is Sunday afternoon and I feel like the day is just running away from me. That I’m getting distracted by every little thing and not really completing anything. Case in point: I’ve had a pan “soaking” for three hours and I was hungry two hours ago but I’m just now sitting down to a sandwich it took me two minutes to make.

A look back at the week as best I can remember it

Today I tried three times to wash one pan and finally did it on the fourth try.

That’s what today has been like.

Last night I heard multiple people compliment my wife about how good she is managing shows for our local theatre and how infectiously positive she is and how the folks speaking want to spend more time around her and I am SO DAMN PROUD

THE DISCOVERY OF INNER SPACE
uninterrupted succession of one thought after another.
One conscious breath (two or three would be even better), taken many times a day, is an excellent way of bringing space into your life. Even if you meditated on your breathing for two hours or more, which some people do, one breath is all you ever need to be aware of, indeed ever can be aware of. The rest is memory or anticipation, which is to say, thought. Breathing isn't really something that you do but something that you witness as it happens. Breathing happens by itself. The intelligence within the body is doing it. All you have to do is watch it happening. There is no strain or effort involved. Also, notice the brief cessation of the breath, particularly the still point at the end of the out-breath, before you start breathing in again.
Many people's breath is unnaturally shallow. The more you are aware of the breath, the more its natural depth will reestablish itself.
Because breath has no form as such, it has since ancient times been equated with spirit-the formless one Life.
"God formed man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and the man became a living creature." The German word for breathing atmen—1s derived from the ancient Indian (Sanskrit) word Atman, meaning the indwelling divine spirit or God within.
The fact that breath has no form is one of the reasons why breath awareness is an extremely effective way of bringing space into your life, of generating consciousness.

I’ll be your surgeon, your proctor, your helicopter pumping out the slaughtermatic sounds that keep you alive; a system failure for the masses, antimatter for the master plan; louder than God’s revolver and twice as shiny

It’s good to have a toilet that doesn’t leak water when you flush and an AC unit that doesn’t blast the emergency heat when it’s supposed to be cool air

Last night my wife and I went to Applebees and our server came up and said “good evening ladies, how are we tonight?” and my brain shut off from the sudden joy

Couldn’t tell me nothin’ the rest of the night and still riding that joy this morning

Yes! Logged in this morning to find 30+ notifications and 25 of them were things I had already seen in some shape or form.

I didn’t know how many so I looked it up.

It’s 81 - and only 6 of them are women:
• Sophie Berthelot
• Marie Curie
• Geneviève de Gaulle-Anthonioz
• Germaine Tillion
• Simone Veil
• Josephine Baker

Hmmmmm

Then “bone broth” seems like a rebranding of stock at a higher price (and perhaps a slightly higher collagen ratio)

I sometimes wonder what the difference is between broth and stock. I’m certain it’s something I could easily look up, and yet . . .

ROMEO, BAKER M. @BakerMikeRomeo • 2h

why would the pope care about your book

Rod Dreher
@roddreher • 1h Because it was widely denounced by Antonio Spadaro, SJ, and others as "anti-Francis" (which it's not, but that was the line in Civilta Cattolica, which Francis reads and has to approve before publication). And Francis's
people called around Italy before my book tour asking...

@BakerMikeRomeo
Replying to @roddreher ok so here's the thing: he's the pope, right and you're explaining to a cartoon rabbit on the internet why you're important enough that the pope should know who you are

Since we’re all making fun of Rod Dreher, I think about this at least once a week

My wife had a party she went to at 5:00

At 3:30 she asked if I could bake lemon bars

I could not (time; ingredients) but I made coffee-raspberry brownies instead; they were still warm when I wrapped them up and sent them on their way

She has just sent me a text to say they are gone

A. Yes
B. It means (a) I am neither male nor female as commonly defined or described and (b) neither do I align (for lack of a better word) with a given gender.
C. See (B)
D. By definition I am trans, but it is not a primary descriptor I would use for my gender identity
