In honour of women’s heart health month and Wear Red Canada day this Friday, I’m sharing poems written in the aftermath of my heart attack to help raise awareness.
Did you know heart attacks can present differently in women? This poem details my experience.

Photograph of the novel entitled Bear by Julia Phillips. The cover of the book is of a forest with eyes subtly peeking out from between trees, with text in white font.
I just started reading Bear by Julia Phillips and I heard season 4 of The Bear has started so I’m officially in my ursa era 🐻
Oh, there are 4 due out that I want to get, including Heather O’Neill’s Valentine in Montreal which is illustrated by her daughter, Arizona.
Summer TBR pile is far too ambitious but I like a challenge.
Sign post set amongst foliage. The sign reads ‘May Peace Prevail On Earth’.

Power outage = under the covers getting under this cover
An outstretched hand, wrist resting on knees clad in a dark green dress, holds an open book. Its owner is reading the last few pages of On Earth It’s Briefly Gorgeous outside on a sunny day with kids playing in the background.
Now that it’s consistently warm, it’s officially summer reading season!
I’ve just finished On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous which is, in itself, full of gorgeous poetic prose.
I’m pulling together a summer TBR pile. What are you reading this summer?
I’ll share my pile if you share yours!
Seems like a generous assessment
If I could figure out how to get my feed to minimize the f*ckery to the south, it’d be aces. I know it’s gone to hell in a handbasket, I choose not to descend with it.
Had to razz you! And yes, I’m mic testing this thing. I keep leaving and coming back to it 😆
You’re going to tell me that next up is James Patterson…🤨
Max cuteness rating
Me, trying to maintain a positive attitude
Okay, but do people actually buy the cans? What are you putting that in? A bottle seems more civilized. Mine is in the shape of a gingerbread man.
A poem written by Steph Percival: I’m no ChatGPT doll Sure, I could write a prompt: Hey ChatGPT, how 'bout one of those dollies? Here’s a photo of me. I read, write, and hug trees— is that all you need to make a faux Barbie me? For you to trivialize me into a token existence encased in a screen behind fake plastic I cannot break in case of emergency? Hey ChatGPT, actually I think I’ll skip this trend, pass on trading in a photo and a few facts about me for this fundamentally flawed facsimile. Simply enjoy the opportunity to change my accessories, to redefine the real me, to stretch out my arms freely with all the flexibility needed to be flawed, naturally.
Any other #starterpack cynics out there? #poetrysky
You got it!
I'm so happy you enjoyed it. It was written from the heart 😊
Must invent reason to come to Ottawa
The vanilla extract, although now that you mention it... 🤔
They're like Vegas hotels at scale. New York, New York on crack.
How do I place an order for this?
I wouldn't but I can think of a country that would
Exactly like a bully who throws the first punch and then expects to not get hit back
Thank you for your courage, integrity, and service to the people in your country.
This is what courage and living your values looks like.
In Canada, our history books refer to Liberation Day as May 5, 1945, the day when the Netherlands was finally liberated from Nazi occupation through the hard work, courage and great sacrifices of Canadian and other Allied soldiers. #LestWeForget 🇨🇦🇳🇱
Get this. My friend's in it, and she good. Real good.
You should send him a thank you card
