* I say this due to:

1) how hard to abate certain sectors are
2) the need for net zero to stabilise temperatures
3) ideally reaching net negative due to 1.5 overshoot
4) limited capacity to rely on nature restoration to do the job for us.

While it's important that we dunk on BECCS an appropriate amount...

... isn't it still the case that we are likely to need negative emissions*?

And isn't BECCS one of the least awful proposals?

Just yesterday I was interviewed about US science funding BECAUSE of dissonance w/ Artemis coverage!

hard agree! indeed that's what I'm doing... leveraging this moment to talk about the big picture.

but it's also certainly the case that very many are aware of this lunar mission, and have no idea about the big scientific picture. and they're left with the illusion that US research is alive & well.
