We visit Haidilao in Penang quite frequently, one of my HK wife's favourites. Visited the Haidilao in SZ a while back and we both agreed, the one in Penang was way better; food, service, extras (free manicure for example). They are putting a lot of effort into making it work outside of China.

He didn't go to all the trouble of rigging the supreme court, and getting a free pass from all illegal activities while POTUS to not take full advantage of it. The only surprise is that he hasn't yet driven a truck into Fort Knox and filled it up with gold bars.

Not just cropped, they changed the contrast and did some fairly sloppy dodging to lighten the central area, and not for the better. The original is best #B&W #Darkroom

In the USA, money talks, not vision. With the financial clout, you can stop progress, protect your investments by killing the visionary steps needed to change course when it is so obviously needed. This will be why the USA will fall, not because it lacks strength, but because of greed.

When there is a dwindling, finite resource on the one hand, and limitless sustainable alternatives, increasingly viable due to tech advances on the other, to bet the farm on the former is quite frankly, stupid. There are a lot of things about China that I hate, but they do not lack vision.
