Two things that make me smile: Hanging out with my daughter, and going to the mountains.

After being under general anesthesia for several hours last May for my spinal surgery (pre-op pic attached), I want to give my body a year or longer to recover.

Certain movements (especially lunge or squat) may cause pain, but won’t do more damage. Pain management is top priority.

While I am happy that the scheduling choice is up to me, with no hoops to jump through or hurdles to clear, I’m trying to put off the inevitable for at least a few months.

She gave me a cortisone shot in the right knee to reduce inflammation and provide some pain relief, but also said the knee replacement I know is coming might be sooner than later.

The right knee is bad enough for the surgery to be scheduled now, but it doesn’t have to be done immediately.

I had an orthopedic visit yesterday for my knees, which have been causing me pain off and on for about a year and a half. The news was a mixed bag.

After looking at new x-rays, the nurse practitioner said my arthritis is severe in the right knee and moderate in the left.
