For our entire careers my wife and I bought supplies for our students from our own savings. My wife was in elementary education and provided breakfast for many students every year. The kids who came in hungry knew where to go in the room to get something if they needed. No shame. No judgement.

While I am no fan of taxes, I do like paved street, sidewalks, free public schools, the fire department, County/State/National parks, libraries, a strong military, public universities, medical research, FEMA. NOAA....Services cost. We tried Gov with no taxes. We almost didn't stay the USA.

My only comment about this idea goes back to maybe the most famous line from the Seinfeld Show. George coaching Jerry, "Jerry, it's not a lie if you believe it". In some areas the orange moron is so far down the rabbit hole he likely completely believes what he is saying.
