Correct. They are part of the colubrid snake family, which includes about 2/3 of the snake species on earth, including garter snakes, hognose snakes, corn snakes, pine snakes, vine snakes, kingsnakes and many other species. Most colubrids are non-venomous.

Fact: The blunt-headed tree snake is found in South America and though it is mildly venomous, the venom is not dangerous to humans. It eats mostly tree lizards.

Fact: The Malagasy leaf-nosed snake is non-venomous and found only in Madagascar. Females are tan with a leaf-shaped appendage on their nose. Males are brown-yellow with a pointed nose. The reason for this face shape is unknown.
