(Did you guys eat lunch over at Bullwhackers, across from the Spindrift Inn?
(Holy Hell, that’s a great story and I could totally see that happening there. Actually, I could see that happening at so many clubs in Monterey. The club and bar scene here is a 50/50 split between pathetic and psychotic.
My brother bartended at the BR and at The General Store in Carmel.
(My older brother bartended there. I used to go there for comedy nights or to get my dance on with friends. Right upstairs! In the 1980’s, I worked at the Spindrift Inn, almost directly across the street.)
(That’s a bit before my time, but I remember when Cannery Row was burned out canneries, with over street walkways that would collapse occasionally. A few hippie businesses, and the 812 theater with the throw cushions for seats. Early/middle 1970’s)
(Yep!) 😹😹😹
(I’m not there (yet), but I have noticed my Iron Bladder that I was proud of throughout my life, now seems to be more of a tin foil bladder that demands attention and exercise all the time. 😹)
(I used to have a big collection of tapes and I kept them until I moved back to Monterey from San Francisco, because why keep them? Everything I’ve ever liked, I now had on CD, so I tossed them, except for a few survivors. Now I have a huge collection of CDs that I rarely listen to, because Apple.)
Or… OR… you wake up hurting like you did something strenuous and you have no idea why, because you haven’t done anything strenuous in days. 😹)
(What was the first CD you ever owned? Mine was “Faith” by George
Michael. I had an Italian Puke Green Fiat 850 Spyder that I bought off a co-worker at my summer job for the princely sum of $300! I bought my first CD boom box and placed it under the convertible top so I had something to listen to.😹)
(YES! I remember 11-12 years old. Got a stereo/record player (AKA a sound system) for my birthday. Listening for KDON to play some song I requested so I could tape it off of the radio. Probably “Betty Davis Eyes” or “The Tide is High” by Blondie. The kids today have no idea how easy they have it! 😹)
(They’re both gone now. God, I remember “Diamond Girl” and “Summer Breeze” seemed to be on the car radio constantly.)
(To quote Popeye, “I yam what I yam”. But I really feel it sometimes, and I find it very disturbing, because in my mind I’m still fresh out of school and ready to take on the world… if it weren’t for my aching back… and feet… and the fact that I wake up at 4:30AM instead of 11:30 AM. 😹)
(I thought that it had to be before 9/11 because that’s when the whole coast guard pier was closed to the public. I’m not sure about the boat launch area. It’s changed so much since I was a child.)
(When was this?)
(Hell ya! I remember buying this and another tape - I can’t remember which one - and cruising along the waterfront in Monterey. I had a 1968 Pontiac Firebird with my Pioneer AM/FM cassette stereo and four speakers. I listened to this tape and didn’t like it initially, but on second listen, I got it)
(I remember when I’d purchase some new CD that has one song on it that I loved and having to make a whole new mix tape to include that new song with all of my old favorites, until a new song came along… 😹)
(Yup. Me too!😹)
(I’m not a big fan of their burgers, but the tacos are the best hangover cure I’ve ever seen.)
(Really? I didn’t know.)

I’m so sorry for you and your family. No greater love… 💔
(To quote Bertie - Oaghe! I miss Fosters Freeze so much! I love their raspberry shakes with pieces of raspberry in it. They closed the one here and now I have to drive 40 miles round trip to get that fix. But anytime I go to Salinas, I stop in.)
(Wanna talk creepy? How about this? This is the Jacks head that they used when I was a kid! You had to order into the clowns head in the drive thru. Eliy was eventually stolen and never recovered.
When I was taking French in high school, I used to call it “Jacques Dans Le Box).
