Hey @psychscience.bsky.social why does it cost more to book a recommended hotel using your discount code?? I've seen this twice now on two different hotels...
The majority of grad students and tenure-track faculty fell back on their stipends, salaries, etc. Losing funding made things harder, for sure. But they did not LOSE their jobs like postdocs did. And losing a job as a postdoc at this stage essentially kicks you out of academia. 2/2
So, when are we going to talk about how it was the postdocs who got royally screwed by all this?
Sure, funding cuts hit many groups, including grad students and assistant profs. But most of these jobs were not DEPENDENT on funding and have comparatively more room to fall back on. 1/2
