I don’t believe in writer’s block but i believe in things that look like it. Depression is a big one. Right now, though, I just feel like I’ve lost the thread of this book and I need to reset somehow. At nearly 50k this is the furthest I’ve gotten in a book without outlining so I guess there’s that.

The Wingspan of Severed Hands was my introduction to the wonderful, baroque, transcendental, lyrical alchemy of @horrorsong.blog's writing, and it's so cool that there's an audiobook version available now.

Something Very Bad is Going to Happen is frustrating. Theres some really good elements and moments but at times it becomes a slog and would have benefited greatly by trimming about 90 minutes from the total run time. I did enjoy the last 20 minutes an awful lot.

Of all the dystopian visions i really wouldn’t have bet on the Time Machine. But we’re perilously close to that moorlock/Eloi dynamic and it seems like both parties kind of want it.

Ohio just introduced HB798, an omnibus anti-trans bill that targets every aspect of trans peoples lives. It bans trans people from bathrooms, even in private businesses. It retroactively bans gender marker changes on birth certificates and drivers licenses. It compels misgendering in schools.

There’s a conversation to be had about how women of color are disproportionately dogpiled for missteps but also the reality that a whole publishing apparatus and literary hype machine was all in on a book that was so badly written as to be id’d as AI by loads of reviewers shouldn’t be overlooked

It’s increasingly clear that in addition to writing and directing incredible films, Benson and Moorehead are producing an impressive bunch of newer directors. I pretty much am in for anything they have a hand in at this point
