it's not a religious thing, it's that people don't acknowledge how insanely limited the scope of human perception is - people think that reality is just what they can see without taking into consideration that we can only ever experience a very limited sensory window of all that's going on around us
i'll go for a more fun angle than government stuff: i 100% believe in ghosts, shadow people, spirits, all kinds of similar paranormal phenomena, to the extent that i think it's naive to doubt/dismiss it
