Bob Dylan put on another outstanding show tonight in my hometown of Macon GA tonight, with the same set list and similar arrangements as Monday's Spartanburg show. This show felt especially joyous for Bob, the band, the audience, and this reviewer.
Checking in from the Macon Bob Dylan show - the big change tonight was we got 2 harmonica parts from Bob (Masterpiece and Every Grain of Sand). Another excellent show!
SCOOP: Two weeks ago, the head of the CDC delayed publication of a report showing covid vaccine cut likelihood of ER visits and hospitalizations by half. Now that report is no longer allowed to be published in CDC’s flagship scientific journal. My latest. 1/2

Tribute to one-time Spartanburg native Hank Garland, guitarist for Elvis Presley and Patsy Cline
Tribute to Spartanburg native Pink Anderson, who partially inspired Pink Floyd's name
Bob Dylan played the small South Carolina city of Spartanburg tonight and put on a tremendous show that showcased his expressive vocals and tight backing band. It is truly remarkable that he's still out on the road, even in the sort of cities that most major artists overlook.
Some great tracks on that album!
"The Great Depression" has relatively focused DMX performances and a pared back guest list, enabling the album to rise above some tired themes and iffy production. In particular, the album starts strong before enduring a mediocre middle but ending on a high note.

Great, shocking reporting on the origins of the Supreme Court maneuver that has enabled Trump to impose his agenda without full-blown legal review. Roberts resented the Obama admin’s EPA and wanted quick protection for oil companies.
"Secret South" by 16 Horsepower takes the band's sound in a new direction, as many of the songs feature softer instrumentation than their prior 2 albums. The result is much less distinctive but still a solid album, highlighted by the Bob Dylan cover "Nobody 'Cept You."

Unironically good song
Makes sense as Jonathan's book alluded to that. Would love to hear anything leftover but I'd think that would be out if it's going to come out
Same! I also wanted to ask you - was JTE recording so fast that there weren't unused takes or is there any chance of an archival release from his time at Bloodshot?
Trump approves disaster aid for red states 89% of the time.
For blue states? 23%.
When your community is underwater or burning, whether you get federal help shouldn't depend on how your state voted.
This is the most partisan abuse of disaster relief funding in the 47-year history of FEMA.
Overall I think the Harrison performances are the best he ever sounded solo
Sounds like a completely different show than I saw a couple weeks ago in Waukegan, which was one of the more stately performances I have seen.
Same here! Excited to dig into those bootleg recordings you recommended
Great album!
When this was released, Lera Lynn and Emmylou Harris being on the same song blew my mind
The Elvis take on "Any Day Now" is also quite good

The number of things I've done 3,059 times is... not very impressive. I've probably had that many cheeseburgers in my life.

I had a wonderful time tonight at @oldtownschool.bsky.social celebrating the art of Justin Townes Earle. Many thanks to @jonbern.bsky.social, @millerscave.bsky.social, and Sammy Brue for sharing stories, memories, and songs of this incredible and meteoric artist.
Gotta be Jack, right? The timing doesn't make sense for Will
"Street Cinema" reveals that Sporty Thievz had little new to say. While technically proficient and backed by often strong production, the group consistently falls back on tired tropes and stuffs the album with incredibly dull skits that further spoil the music.

Speaking of poorly planned guest appearances, I think this is the best album featuring our current President by default.

"Tical 2000: Judgement Day" has a truly ridiculous 9 skits that drag it down and conceal a strong second album from Method Man. Get past the bloat and poorly planned guest appearances and this is one of the best rap albums of 1998 and of Method Man's career.

Dear god. Very, very serious allegations of mass civil rights violations at the State of Florida's Everglades immigration detention center (officially known as "Alligator Alcatraz").
