The only down side is you do kinda need to have a reasonable idea of how much yarn you need on the needle end to make the thing youre working on.

Sometimes its hard to explain why you like something more than something else. Sometimes its easy. I understand

I feel a needle is less fiddly. The only issue ive had with needles is some times the eye is too small or when you pick one the eye will take the thread it creates kinda loose stitches. It does depend on the thread of course.

Going back to pure purple onions (the corners). For some reason i like this more #tatting #lacemaking

Actual tatting. Principle. Easy enough. Making something that doesnt look somehow scruffy? Harder.

I struggled initially with the shuttle. The thread over hand freaked my head out. Had to start with a needle, then a very dumpy shuttle and worked my way up to normal one.

Its a lovely simple pattern. It is technically a magic square but i find working with too much in my hand hard going. So making small squares and waiting to add them right at the end to the already made ones seems like the best plan

Yeah i get into counting the stitches and forget to join normally. Pretty much anything made ive probably actually done 2.5+ times the work undoing and redoing.

I do do the dropping throughout the loop. I shall try the pico thing

There was me. Looking at my tatting and .. i got a big oopsy. On the right on that bit dangling down theres a single purple loop. Cos my brain said its the outside. Its not. I gotta undo back to just before that purple loop. Grr #lacemaking #tatting

One key thing about hobbies. Is that they are a choice. Not fancy knitting tonight. Screw it. Cross stitch or lace making or heck watch a film. The problem with work is in the mood or not. You must produce to get the cash.
