Meet Henry the Dragon!
He spent quite a while on my longarm, now he’s up on display, keeping a watchful eye over the studio like a guardian. He wasn’t blocked so he’s hanging a little wavy—but that just adds to his charm.
I love imagining him guarding a secret passage in a medieval castle…

The world has gone crazier! What the heck with the trade tariffs people? Shouldn’t we be building relationships not breaking them down? Asking for the quilters not in the USA, because soon the currency issues are going to kill any hope of quality fabric and tools.
Tell me more! Is it like couching around fabric or do you stitch the motif with yarn? Or felting?
Quilting is my main love, but I dabble in other hobbies too! 📚🧶✨ I read a lot, crochet when the mood strikes, and occasionally go on a random decoupage spree. My latest experiment? Epoxy resin! Surprisingly easy and kinda fun!
What’s your favorite non-quilting hobby?
My cutting station? More like my Everything Goes There station! I keep my light mat, Martelli rotating board, and rulers here. Underneath, there’s a spot for my embroidery hoops, and I had some fun with decoupage inside!
Built from two bookcases with big wheels for easy moving—tons of storage, too!

Shoutout to everyone who has a mountain of laundry, a sink full of dishes, and zero regrets because quilting comes first.
You’re my kinda people!

I had to look that up…🤣
Just because you’re used to holding a ruler a certain way doesn’t mean you can’t revise and adjust—especially if you’re dealing with strain. Small tweaks can make a big difference, and don’t forget to take regular breaks.

They’re soooo expensive in SA unfortunately

Who knew a drum could become a dreamy side table? Jelly roll strips, batik fabric, a resin pour, and a STUNNING dragon eye by my friend Carien—this piece is pure magic! What d’ya think?

Sometimes, fewer reference lines are better! When I need precise ½-inch points for perpendicular lines, a long straight edge with just one reference line keeps things simple.

Not all quilt fabric becomes a quilt… sometimes it ends up in a dragon eye resin table! ✨ I used batik fabric for the background—small resin leak, but no disasters! Full reveal coming soon.
Ever used quilt fabric for something unexpected?

Struggling to mark your quilting lines on dark fabric? A white marker from Clover makes it easy to see your guidelines, and it disappears with ironing! Do you have a favorite way to mark dark fabrics? Let us know in the comments!

Tired of fabric bunching up while basting your quilt? Try this quick trick—let your fingers do a little scratch behind the foot as you baste. No more unwanted gatherings! Remember, the only gatherings we allow are with fellow quilters! 🧵✨ #QuiltingTips #NoFabricGathering #QuiltersOfInstagram
🎨 Let’s Dye Fabric! 🖌️ I hand-dye my quilt backings using hot water dye for rich, vibrant colors. Soak in soda ash, mix dye with boiling water, and let it sit overnight. Rinse, dry, and quilt! Would you try it?

No longarm machine is immune—oil your hook mechanism every time you change the bobbin! 🧵
👉 After oiling, run the machine without thread, then test on scrap fabric to avoid oil transfer.
Protect your investment and keep your quilting smooth! 🛠️

Longarm tip: Keep a light grip on your handles to avoid tennis elbow! 💡 Brace your arm against your rib cage, sway with the machine, and think of it as an extension of your arm—not a beast to control. Quilt smarter, not harder!

Controlling a longarm is a wild ride!
Practice makes progress—not perfection. Every project is just prep for the next. Celebrate your wobbly stitches—they make your quilts yours! 🧵

Does your quilting foot push a bubble ahead of your stitches? Bulky quilts with thick batting, fleece, wool, or heavy appliqué can sometimes create unwanted ripples. Try a scoop, spoon, or broad-surface foot! These smooth, curved edges ease the bulk and deliver smooth, ripple-free stitches.
🎧 Quilting is noisy! My longarm runs at 90-110 decibels—well above the safe limit of 85. I use noise-canceling headphones to protect my hearing while still catching machine sounds. Bonus: audiobooks make quilting even better! 🧵✂️

Finally tried my sway rulers from Natalia Bonner, and they’re a game-changer! 💙 Straight edge + circle on one ruler = less tool swapping and more quilting joy. What’s a tool you wish you’d tried sooner?
