Federal data update: BRFSS has been taken down and a lot of the census website is “unavailable due to maintenance,” although data.census.gov still works.
The CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Survey has monitored the wellbeing of America’s high school students since 1991.
Since 2015, it’s been a vital source of data on LGBQ youth. In 2023, it provided the first ever nationally representative sample of transgender teens.
As of this morning, it’s gone.
Maria Moe (pseudonym), a trans woman in federal prison, is suing Donald Trump after his executive order resulted, horrifyingly, in her being removed from the general population, locked in solitary confinement, and told she’d be transferred to a men’s prison because of the order.
