The way they use the word "theatrical" is sus. Do they mean "as if something matters"?

Palantir put out the most cartoonishly evil statement possible. They’re so arrogant and self-confident they don’t seem to believe their fascistic plans can be opposed.

We must get rid of Palantir altogether.

Terrific thread, had to boost this part specifically.

The designer's job (especially content designer's job) is often the translation of those "perfect nouns" into terms people will understand with the minimum effort required.

I've been thinking about this a lot when people say extremely contradictory things about their work with AI without showing any signs of cognitive dissonance.

It's like the sycophancy is creating a dopamine buffer, so it just doesn't hurt enough to think.

Proposed term:

AI dementia = The progressive deterioration of intellectual faculties following the increased use of AI, beyond what might be expected from biological causes.

Areas particularly affected include memory, spatial understanding, attention, judgement, language, and problem solving.

you shouldn’t learn about bands from shady TikTok manipulation, you should learn about bands by hanging out with a girl you like but are also extremely afraid of

100%. See also many forms of anxiety and depression. Works well with the "mismatch" model of disability.

I hate Google for making me turn off all smart features if I want Gemini to stop suggesting writing at every turn. What do you mean you won’t add calendar events unless I take your shitty email and word doc suggestions

A WHOLE CIVILIZATION
WILL DIE TONIGHT
My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools.
Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's
"keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's
"we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight."
It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before.
"It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time.
A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead.

If you're also feeling especially emotional or fragile today, get your eyes misty for this good doggo and the people who still bring them sticks.

Yeah so he is just going to keep doing the thing where we are in a constant state of uncertainty, confusion, stress, and tension because that is what abusive people do and the people who are in a position to address this are asleep at the switch.

Just because a President announces he’s agreed to a two week ceasefire moments before he threatened to commit war crimes, does not mean he is suddenly fit to serve. #25thAmendment

ALSO: if you get choked up and emotional while talking to the staffers or leaving messages, that's OK. I did, too.

Example script in case you don't know what to say:
Hi, my name is [Your name] from [City, State].

I’m calling to oppose Trump’s unconstitutional war on Iran, and the criminal strikes he's been threatening. I’m asking you to do anything you can to prevent more war crimes from happening today.

Call me radical leftist scum, but I don’t think billionaires should exist. If you can’t live with $99,999,999.99, then you’re just going to have to tighten your belt. Every dollar over that amount should go directly to a community fund for healthcare, housing, and education.
